Chatpad no longer working with 11/19 Update

I'm not sure if this is just a chatpad issue, or controller issue. My console auto updated to the 11/19 dashboard, and since then my Chatpad no longer works. I've disconnected, and reconnected, and tried 3 different controllers, and nothing is working. It
worked fine for the first hour of Fallout tonight but after I let the controller turn off for inactivity, it hasn't worked since. Also when plugging the controller into the console with the Play and Charge Kit, the light on the cable no longer lights up. This
just started happening about an hour ago.

Update: It's definitely an issue with the Chatpad. The light on the Play and Charge Kit Cable lights up now when the Chatpad is disconnected from the controller. The moment u plug it in, the light turns off. Unplug and the light comes back on.

 

Sorry to hear it. Can you please try power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down?

 

Yea u power cycled twice, and then even tried it on my other Xbox One, and still the same thing. It did start working again last night, after I had charged the battery to 100%, then plugged in the chatpad again, and it worked. However, I had more problems
with it again this morning, as my girlfriend was using the the controller without it plugged into the console. So then when I went to use it, I turned on the controller and the chatpad wouldn't work. So I had to unplug the chatpad, plug in the charge cable,
and the light turned red for a couple of seconds, then turned white. I plugged the chatpad back in, and it has been working. It seems that I need to leave the controller plugged in for the chatpad to keep working. It will work when I unplug the controller,
but only until the controller turns off. Once it turns off, when it's turned back on, the chatpad won't work again until the controller is 100% charged. It's very odd. Thinking about purchasing another Chatpad to see if maybe I just got a bad one, because
my dad hasn't had those problems with his, just his controller randomly disconnecting, which is a problem that I haven't had in about a year.

 

I can't test it out with, and without the 11/19 update since both of my Boxes had already updated, and now that I think about it, before the update I did mostly use my controller with it plugged in since I got the Chatpad last Monday. So I'm baffled as to
what it could be other than just possibly getting a bad chatpad.

 

Sorry to hear that didn't work. Can you make sure the chat pad is pushed in all the way? Sometimes it can be tricky and be sitting just a little bit off.

Also, would you happen to have a different controller that you could try it on just to be sure?

 

Yea it is kinda tough to get it snapped in, but it's snapped in good. It's either all or nothing when attaching it to the controller. I have 3 different controllers, all of them Mark 1 controllers with no audio ports. My dad has the Spartan Locke controller
that he got with his Halo 5 console. Since he has no problems with his, could it just be an issue of the chatpad not playing nice with the original controllers?

 

That could be a possibility. Now, if I remember correctly I believe you said you updated the controllers in an earlier post. Was the chatpad attached when you did this? It is recommended for it to be attached.

 

Yea I had the latest update and then when I first attached the Chatpad it prompted me to update again. So far today, no problems wired, or wireless.

 

I just purchased the Xbox One Chatpad. When I first plugged it in to my Halo 5 Master Chief controller on Monday 11/23/2015, it prompted the update for the controller and then for the Chatpad as well. It seemed to be working. I then plugged it into my Halo
5 (silver) controller but it did not prompt the updates nor did this controller recognize that the Chatpad was attached. I then plugged the Chatpad back into the Master Chief controller and now it also does not recognize that the Chatpad is connected. Both
controllers are have been updated to firmware version 2.3.2385.0. I have also powered cycled restart several times as well as completely disconnected the power supplies for the console and the controllers. I would hate to have to exchange it for a different
one if it is just a firmware issue. I have tried restarting my Xbox One on Tuesday 11/24/2015 with no change.

 

These problems are odd. Like I said in my last post, for that day, I didn't have anymore problems. I was using my Day One controller at the time, but later that day I lucked out, and finally found a GameStop about 20 minutes away from me that had 1 Elite
Controller that they held for me. That was Monday night, and since I've been using the Elite Controller the past couple of days, I haven't had a single issue with the Chatpad like I had before with my Day One Controller. Again, I've mostly been using the controller
wired, and have been disconnecting the controller and putting it back in its case when I'm done for the day, so it really hasn't been used wireless since I got it. I still wonder if the problem is caused when the rechargeable battery gets too low. I might
test that out with the Elite Controller and Chatpad in the coming days.
