Chatpad issues with XBOX ONE S controller (won't fit)

Hello! I just bought one of the XBOX ONE chatpads with the included chat headset.

I am having trouble fitting the chatpad onto my XBOX ONE S controller.

As far as I can tell from the instructions and from inspecting the controller, the chatpad should just be able to plug into the controller right?

It feels like something might not be aligned... like something is blocking the connection... I shouldn't need to remove anything, correct?

Chatpad won't fit XBOXOne S controller

Is the chatpad only made to fit xbox 360 controllers? It won't fit in my XBOX One S controller!

 

Chatpad won't fit into controller

We received a new Chatpad + headset for a gift, but the chatpad will not fit into the controller.

The XBox is XBox One S (white controller)

The Chatpad + Headset are labeled for XBox One / Windows 10 and are black.

Is it supposed to slide in easily? It certainly doesn't and without putting too much pressure does not seem to want to fit into the controller. We have already plugged the headset in directly to the controller and ran the firmware update. However, the
chatpad simply won't fit into the controller.

 

Okay did a little measuring while waiting for a response... so far it looks like the issue is that whatever connector is at the bottom of the XBOX ONE S controller... it is not meant for whatever is on the connector of my XBOX ONE Chatpad (the chatpad is
indeed the official microsoft one).

Its like the connector for the XBOX ONE S controller is meant for something a little wider... that's why it feels like when I try to plug in the chatpad something is pushing back... the flat 'slab' type thing inside the connector is slightly wider than what
is on the chatpad... at least that's what I seem to find with my controller... I'm not speaking for all the other XBOX ONE S controllers or chatpads...

I have a headset adapter that I will try now... I was hoping to avoid opening the package unless I really needed it... but here goes... :/

 

hahah and down the drain goes that theory! The headset adapter fit perfectly!

I'll re-examine my chatpad...

 

ugh... so weird... not sure why I'm getting some weird resistance/pushback from the chatpad but the headset adapter goes in okay.

You may have to wiggle the chatpad around to be sure that it's properly aligned to get it to fit onto your Xbox One S controller. Be sure that the prongs and such are aligned correctly and then try wiggling things to see if you can get it to pop on. Are
you able to try your Xbox One chatpad on a different Xbox One controller? Preferably not an Xbox One S version. If you don't have one available, you could bring your chatpad to a local retailer and ask if you can try it there.
