Chat through a HI-FI headphone??

Need your help on the following audio question:

I game with a pair of high end stereo hi-fi headphones connected to a DAC which is subsequently connected to the optical port of the Xbox One. (Video by HDMI cable from the Xbox One to the HDTV)
Great game audio quality but to chat I use the kinect mic. (my friends hear me and I hear them through my headphones even though the voice quality is not the best).
If I buy a separate mic to attach to my headphones and connect its 3.5mm jack to the adaptor will I hear the chat audio through my headphones??

Can't be heard!

I usually party chat with just two friends. I can hear them but they can't hear me! Help. I have gone through all the fi- its and still no luck!

Hi there! The MiFi Hotspot on Verizon 4G will not connect over XBOX live due to bandwidth restrictions. It is best to use a router or a Wi-Fi router, instead of through a smart phone.

 

I'd like to know kind of the same thing, i use Audio Technica headphones that have a mic on the wire to be used with a Windows phone. If I buy the adaptor will I be able to use this mic for chat. Sorry for the post hi-jack but I think we roughly want to
know the same thing!

I doubt getting an answer for my hi-fi headphone - attachable mic - microsoft adapter problem as posted above. It probably would not work anyway. Maybe a compromise solution could be: PC headset with two 3.5mm jacks (audio + mic). The audio jack to the DAC,
mic jack to the adapter.

This might be the only way to get chat audio to the headset while maintaining superior game audio from the DAC. Check out the forthcoming Audio Technica ATH ADG1 PC headset.

 

As far as I've been able to tell, chat does not work for most 3rd party headsets when using the adapter. The adapter that was, of course, supposed to enable chat for 3rd party headsets. Sigh.

 

I Love Audio Technica stuff. Really good quality sound for less money than the house hold name brands.

 

Sounds like it would technically work as long as the mic ring is in the section of the jack as it would be in for on a 3 ring 3.5mm adapter (and I'm pretty sure they are). The audio comes out of both the receiver and the headset. I'm not certain you'll
hear your OWN voice (why would you?)

Sadly, I have a pair of Sony MDR x10s that have inline mic and doesn't work yet with the adapter, but an old 2.5mm mono headset worked fine. I'm not a fan of the Sony headphones themselves so doing it your way may be a good option for me, too-- optical
through a DAC and separate mic...
