Chat Problems [Adapter]

Lately, I have not been able to communicate with anyone. I have a stereo headset and am able to hear game and chat audio perfectly, I am just not able to speak. After many hard resets and multiple headsets with multiole controllers, it's the same result.
I am still allowed to speak with my Kinect. Not sure if it's causing an issue, but I am a preview member and have updated my console and controller to the latest updates available for them.

Many help would be appreciated, I really would like this issue resolved.

Recently purchased X1 and have a question about headsets.

Nope you should be able to plug it straight into the controller without any problems. All the adapter will do differently will let you mix game and chat audio on the fly.

Headset mod for turtle beach, astro , triton etc

buy the chat adapter, then spend a few more quid buying the relevant bits to link it all in to the chat adapter as it will give you both chat and audio for your headset anyway, adapter is £20 then maybe another £5 to link the bits in, cheaper than a new headsetClick to expand...

Cheers mate- would I still have the problem connecting the red and whites to the tv or would this be negated by buying the relevant linking cables? What bits do I need?

disable the microphone on your kinect and check if you have the controller assigned to your gamertag

to check this go to settings/devices and accessories/ xbox wireless controller

if not assign it and try the chat again.

Chat Adapter

I have had this exact problem in the past. The only way to 'fix' the issue is just by purchasing a new chat adapter. I learned that the reason behind the cross going through the Xbox logo is that there was a short circuit in the chat adapter that led for
the light to stay on. The chat adapters are relatively inexpensive but fixed my problem when purchasing a new one.

Once the chat adapter light is on, as of now, there isn't a way to turn it off but replacing it.

Then why is this problem not happening for me when the chat adapter is not plugged in?

the game only goes quiet when people talk when i plug in my chat adapter and press the chat balance button till the 'beep'

if i dont do this i get a weird sound because the chat adapter also plays game audio from its own... so i have to disable that and then the problem starts happening.

I know for a fact that it's not the ambient noise. It still does it when the volume is off on the monitor.

...and it repeats chat that's only coming through the headset (not TV)
