I've been experiencing this issue for about 6 months now. I'll be in a party chat with one or more of my friends (the number doesn't seem to effect when I experience this) in a chat that either I started or they started (who started the chat doesn't seem
to effect when I experience this) and we'll be playing/chatting when I suddenly and randomly stop hearing all members of my party. It doesn't matter if I'm playing with my original stock controller or my Elite Series 2 controller (which controller I'm using
doesn't seem to effect when I experience this) The issue never fixes itself; it's not a momentary problem, if the party "goes dark" I can't hear them again until I find a fix (they can still hear me though.) From the party page I can see my friends circles
light up (the circle that goes around their name) when they talk, but I can't hear them. The Xbox KNOWS they're talking, but that information isn't being transmitted to my headset. are a list of troubleshooting steps I've taken so far. Note that there isn't
1 magic bullet that fixes the issue. Sometimes the issue gets resolved and things start working properly again, sometimes it doesn't. I have an Xbox One X.

    1. The game (PUBG) has been updated.

    2. Both of my controllers are up to date.

    3. The party is not manually muted. In other words, when I push the xbox button and go over to party and then down to "Options," I still have the ability to "Mute Everyone" (if everyone were muted here, the option would read "Unmute Everyone").

    4. I unplug my headset (Astro A40 with the Mixamp M80) from my controller and plug it back in. (Note that the M80 Mixamp is brand new and I had it replaced because of this troubleshooting process so I think we can rule it out as being defective.) Sometimes
this fixes the issue, most times it does not.

    5. I purchased a cheap headset to continue to troubleshoot and I still experience the issue with the new headset so I think we can eliminate the headset as being the issue.)

    6. I turn off my controller and turn it back on again. Sometimes this fixes the issue, most times it does not.

    7. I turn off the controller I was playing with and turn on my second controller and continue playing with it. Sometimes this fixes the issue, most times it does not (Note: I originally thought this was a controller issue but got a new Xbox Elite Series
2 for Christmas and still have the issue with it, so I think we can rule out a faulty controller).

    8. I leave the chat and start a new one, inviting my friends. Sometimes this fixes the issue, most times it does not.

    9. I leave the chat and my friends reinvite me to the same chat. Sometimes this fixes the issue, most times it does not.

    10. I leave the chat and my friends leave the chat and they start a new one and I accept the invite. Sometimes this fixes the issue, most times it does not.

    11. I mute everyone in the chat from the party screen, then unmute everyone. I have never had this work.

    12. I switch from party chat to game chat then back to party chat. This has only fixed the issue once.

    13. Shut down the Xbox and restart, then either joining the old chat or starting a new one. This fixes the issue most of the time but sometimes it does not work and from that point on I am unable to get chat working to where I can hear anyone speak.

Again, randomly my xbox is muting my party to where I can't hear anybody but they can still hear me. I can see their circles light up on the party chat page when they speak, so my xbox is recognizing that they are speaking but their voice never makes it
to my headset. This happens on multiple controllers and with multiple headsets. The most reliable (but does not always work) method to fix the issue is to power down the xbox and power back up again. Obviously this ruins any game I'm in with friends and it
happens too often to ignore (it occured 4 times today durring a 2-hour session of PUBG with a buddy. Basically I was troubleshooting the problem on every match we played and it's becoming a real issue).

I welcome any and all help. Thanks in advance.

    :)

This happens a lot, when I try to use voice chat.

Easiest fix has been that when I'm in a chat where I can't hear other players,

I just replug the headset I use into the 3,5mm port of the controller.

I find this annoying. Also using Xbox One X.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not a headset issue. I replaced my M80 mixamp (Astro) with a brand new one and nothing changed. The headset itself can't mute others, only the console has the ability to do that, and there's no way to tell the headset to tell
the console to mute the party. It has to be an issue with the xbox itself.

I know it's been about 2 weeks since you had your issue. Did you manage to solve it yet? There's a few things I can think of to try and help.

First of all, are your headsets the ones designed to also output the video game audio as well as game chat? If so, are they still putting out that game audio into your headset when your party chat is muted, or is all audio that comes out of the headset not
there anymore? If all audio is going missing, I would most likely blame the issue on hardware rather than the software. Is this a problem that anyone else in your party chat is having issue with, or only yourself?

    This link: https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/display-sound/troubleshoot-xbox-one-party-audio

gives some basic info, I know it might not help but it does mention that network latency can affect the quality of your party chat. How is your internet quality when you play? Do you notice that the party chat goes out whenever you're lagging in your games?
I would try port forwarding, if you have yet to do that, just as a last ditch attempt to improve your internet quality and see if that helps.

If it's any consolation at the end of all of this, I myself have had party chats conk out on me on like an hourly basis in early May, and I did get a message from xbox saying that they were having some issues with their social aspects of the platform. The
platform's not always perfect, and some errors might not even be caused from your side.

Also, I am experiencing this every time I play/chat. This is not a once in a while thing.
