Chat Headsets Inconsistently Performing

Seriously, I want to know if this is just me and my girlfriend experiencing this.

The xbox one headset that comes with the console barely EVER works. It never recognises that it's actually connected to the controller.

I've heard it's because the IR dots on the top of the controller need to be visible once by Kinect? But that didn't fix it

I heard that kinect has to see you with it on? But it barely even recognises me let alone the headset!

It's completely useless and a massive back step from the 360's simple plug in and use set up.

Is this actually going to be addressed in a patch at any point? Because right now I've a console that can't figure out I'm using a headset with the only game worth owning it for (Titanfall) being a multiplayer only game. And I can't talk to anyone... The
hell is the point :')

if this seems short or whatever, then I apologise, but it's frustrating as hell that most of the things the 360 did perfectly well, the one just closes its ears to and screams la la la not listening.

Wow, I completely forget VG Cats even existed. They update so inconsistently!

 

I had similar issues, for me it worked 95% of the time, however when playing Titanfall I would have times when I could not get the headset to connect to the controller no matter what I did....

 

I wish it was just titanfall but it's all the time, I've tried getting the party chat working up before even loading up a game but the microphone just never picks up chat/noise coming from me. It shows i can mute it and the volume can be turned up and down,
but it just doesn't recognise the voice input..

I've taken to unplugging kinect because it's useless anyway and that made it work (but this fix didn't work for my friends), so I've no idea what has to be done :')

 

I had the same issue when I first started playing dr3 . But I broke my controller and haven't had an issue since. So maybe it was something with the 1st batches of controllers .

 

Have you tried updating the controllers/headsets? Just a thought

 

Ahh never considered a controller batch problem, my mate works in a games chain and they keep getting complaints about the headsets not working frequently apparently, maybe it is..

Yeah my controller is up to date completely, tried everything I can think of

 

Maybe a reset to factory setting? Just a thought.

 

Lil update,

After removing the kinect, the mic now works everytime I boot up the One... so it seems to be something to do with that, 3/3 boots now and the mic is registering, just can't use the kinect at the same time...

 

I had this issue, they are working on it, when you connect the headset go to the sign in screen and go to your name then select choose this person, issue solved 100% of the time.

 

Just a question OP... Did you turn off the Kinect mic (as in, the "use Kinect for chat" to off) before plugging in the headset?

 

Happens to me all the time and I use the stereo headset. It is extremely frustrating.

 

The Xbox One headset is straight up rubbish. It feels horrible to wear, people don't sound clear and neither do I to them and it's an absolute awkward time to pull it out. Thank goodness I hardly use it.

 

The sign in method didn't do anything for it unfortunately and yeah I turned off the Kinect mic because when that was active it occasionally ran through the headset and occasionally ran through the kinect, just a random it seemed.

Still hate the kinect.
