Chat/headset issues-XBOX-ONE

So I'm having chat issues with my xbox one. Hopefully someone will understand this because it is a fairly convoluted issue. So it seems like all of a sudden after the February update my headset stopped working. I was low on time and had only used it once
until Titanfall came out. I thought it was an isolated issue. Turns out still doesn't work. I figured that the mic itself was broken. I didn't want to have to deal with sending it away and waiting for a replacement so I bought the stereo headset with adapter.
Get home to test it out and that does not work either. I have done the controller update. They only way I get voice chat into my headset is when I have the kinect microphone on. (works on both headsets). Keep in mind that my voice is going through kinect and
friends voices coming through my headset. When I turn the kinect microphone off the voices get switched to the tv and nothing though the headset other then game sound. I have also tested this on another controller and with the upload studio by recording a
voice clip. Does not work with other controllers but my voice is being picked up via voice clip.

I spoke with microsoft support yesterday and thought I had the problem fixed. They instructed me to put the box in "safe mode" by pushing eject and the power button at the same time. It changed the resolution and it seemed to fix the problem. I changed the
resolution back and it was still working ok. However when i turned my box off and came back to it the chat was still not working.

Long story short it seems that my voice is not being transmitted out in game/party chat and the only way it goes out and i can hear people is when my Kinect mic is turned on.

VERY FRUSTRATING, especially as it seems like it stopped working overnight.

Wow, I JUST read this thread in the IGN forums. I've been having the same problem since the February update. Hard reset does nothing for me. But yesterday, I turned my other Xbox downstairs completely off. No standby mode. And even though I wasn't signed
in downstairs, that fixed the chat issue I was having upstairs. I initially thought it had something to do with having 2 consoles in standby mode and signing in to them both back and forth. I'm not sure. Judging by the Xbox Support forums, this seems to be
a common issue.

 

I was having the same problem. My voice was being picked up in party chat but not in in-game chat.

I done the hard reset and now I can chat in both party and just in-game.

 

Hard reset basically factory reset?
