Chat Headset is full of static

I've seen similar posts but have yet to see any kind of resolution. This is in reference to the headset included with the X1. My mic seems to be working fine as others can hear what I'm saying clearly. However, when others try to speak to me it comes
through with very heavy static. I can generally only understand what people are saying about 15% of the time. I have confirmed that this occurs in both party chat and in-game chat. Could this have anything to do with the controller update or does this just
sound like a faulty chat headset? I know MS will replace the headset, but it's a bit annoying that I have to ship it back on my own dime and then wait probably 2 to 3 weeks (service claims within 10 days of receipt) to get a new headset to replace the one
that I just took out of the bag. Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, could you share your resolution? TIA

XBOX ONE Stereo Headset Static Problem....

I experiencing the same static junk! Picked up my xo sevens and when I'm in a chat with friends the static that comes through when they talk is terrible! The cheap headset Microsoft gave us with the xbox has better chat audio! Please please fix the static
issue! Both of my friends that picked up the chat adapter for their x12's are going through the same stuff! I know it's not the headset. Game audio sounds great just the chat sounds bad.

Headset Issues

I am having an issue with the headset provided with my Xbox One. Once the headset is properly connected to the controller I hear nothing but static in the ear piece. My friends in party chat also say they hear me outputting static. The problem is not party
chat itself, as I am able to communicate just fine with the mic on the Kinect. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm having the same problem.. In my case my basic chat headset stopped working, my online partner couldn't hear me but I could hear him. Bought a new, OEM headset, lots of static when the plug is touched/moved. Worked for about 1.5 hours and stopped
working thru either of my controllers. Bought another basic headset, it doesn't work and bought a MS X1 Stereo headset and another controller. The outgoing chat works sporadically, lots of static if the plug into the adapter is touched. outgoing voice
cuts out & in. VERY frustrating! Ron ....

We understand that you're experiencing an issue concerning the inability to talk within a party chat, as well as a static sound emitting from your headset that your friends hear.

That is an excellent question, and there are a few more things that we can do to determine the answer.

This isn't necessarily a permanent solution, just a step that you can do to pinpoint the root of the issue: Can you please try another chat headset? If possible, borrow a headset from a friend or family member and try it with your controller. If the static
stops, then we know there's a fault with your headset.

If the static continues, try your headset on a different controller. If THAT eliminates the static, then your controller is the cause.

If the static is still present no matter what combination of accessories you try, then please let us know and we'll be sure to look into this further on our end as well.

I have the X41 and the Xbox stereo controller adapter. With the X41 base station connected to the Xbox via optical, I get decent game audio through the headset. I believe it's only stereo and not simulated surround sound. The chat function works with the
stereo controller adapter, but it has the same problem that everyone else has -- there's a lot of static on my voice which makes it useless for chat. I think that the chat audio coming from these headsets, including the Turtle Beach and Astros, is at a level
that's causing clipping, which is the cause of the static sound.
