charging for a free movie = false advertising

I've been looking at this ad on my dashboard all day promoting a movie called "Knights of Badassdom" for free. When I finally had the chance to watch this it was just before 10pm, leaving me with 2+ hours left of the "free weekend". Yet it tried to make
me purchase the movie for $14.99. A little bit more than free.

When I called customer support, the nice girl informed after an extended hold, that the promotion had end 6 hours ago. Six! I've been looking at this ad all day. So then why did it end 6 hours ago? Because, she said, the promo is running on England time.
Why?!? Last time I checked, I'm using an American console from a US company, on an American run and funded online service, from an American IP address, on the east coast of the USA. Why am I looking at advertisements for the UK? Nowhere in the ad does it say
UK time, or that the offer expired mid-day on Sunday.

Frankly, that's not only a ridiculous response, but completely unprofessional for a company like this. I feel like the ad was just trying to trick me into accidentally purchasing the movie. Was it ever free in the first place? There's no way of knowing now,
but it's STILL up on my dashboard.

I was told they've been getting calls about it all day. "They've been working hard at getting the ad taken down." They should be working hard at keeping all their loyal customers happy. She informed me that nothing is being done to compensate all the people
who've called in about it. And for every call, there's at least 3 - 5 more who don't. Just think of all the bad word of mouth that's spreading now. You know a lot of people out there haven't decided which way to go on the new generation of consoles. Charging
for things that are advertised as free isn't a good way to inspire customer satisfaction.

    :)

New Coyote Canyon DLC will be free to download.

Th Coyote pack is not free, also the FREE powerstar golf game is a con, it is purely a demo.

A free game as this is advertised is false advertising and i will be reporting microsoft for this.

  3. Free Porsche's!

I went to the freaking car dealership for my free Porsche. They laughed and kicked me out. I'll sue your pants off, Genchy, for this false advertising.

The time that offers are made is GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). It is a standard time that most countries go by when offers/business' are operating worldwide.

  6. I too had the same problem and spoke to not one but two customer service reps. One assured me the movie was free and just had not been released to all subscribers and that it wold be free. Then another that tells me they couldn't find such a promotion. Isn't
it funny that when they release the Free Games on the 1st and 16th its done on PST where the corporate office is. It all sounds like a bunch of B.S. to me. Trying to get that almighty dollar.

I get just as frustrated. I don't get why it runs on GMT. This actually causes people to have their Gold lapse almost a full day BEFORE the actual date.

surely not, or do you have to wait a full day for a ppc to enable your Gold subscription after redeeming it? -> ppc obviously end exactly after 30d have passed, no matter which time Zone might be used
