Charged for xbox live gold for a month

I think someone has used my debit card for xboxlive , i had an email on the 14th of this month saying there was a pdf invoice for xbox gold, ive looked on my halifax online statement and money has come out, i then looked on my xbox 'payment &billing' tab
and the last payment i have paid on my account was last month, i then got an email early this morning bout 3.45am bout xboxlive being cancelled on the 15th.

I contacted someone via the 'Chat' function and he said i had gold and it was on auto renewal, well....ive checked on my xbox account on my console and it says i do not have xbox live gold, only silver,

Can someone please help me as i didnt purchase gold and it still came out of my account,

Why did I get charged for gold 3 months and have no gold now?

I recently got charged for 3 months gold but I already got charged last month for 3 month gold membership, im not sure if it's automatic renew but I never got asked only charged for it but now xbox.com and xbox live say I have silver membership when I should
have another 5 months gold?! can someone please help me

Promotion

Xbox live gold charged me more when I bought live for a promotion said buy gold now get next gold for 4.99 I was charged 10.98. I payed last month for that promo. Called Xbox support said I had to submit it to the forms. That he couldn't help me because
he never heard of that promotion.

It charges you for the previous month of Xbox LIVE Gold. It doesn't bill you in advance, it bills you in arrears, so you get charged AFTER you play for a month.

so if i apply the xbox live gold 12 months then upgrade it to ultimate i wont be charged and extra 12 months?

Based on what you had posted here you may have had Xbox Live Gold up until Feb 8th. Most likely, it was in the middle of the monthly subscription and they may have canceled the sub and removed the pending charge.

The other issue about being charged twice for Xbox Live is again an issue when the system tries to charge your card for a month and there's either not enough funds or the bank doesn't process the charge. Meanwhile your subscription remains active but the
charge is pending. Then you get into the next month of Xbox Live gold and the charge for the last month and the next month go through when there's funds on the card.

Xbox Support should be able to see when your billing date is and see the pending and attempted charges and then finally the successful charge for those two previous months.

Using prepaid codes won't charge you for Gold like a recurring subscription. It would simply give you 1 Month of Xbox Live.
