charged for first gamertag change

On the "Change gamertag" settings screen right below the title, it says, "You can change it once for free." However, I was charged $10.09 and am looking to receive a refund. I am happy to pay for any future gamertag changes, however this being the first
change, I should not have been charged. Please let me know if you can help.

gamertag needs to be changed!!!!

If this is your first Gamertag change you will not be charged. Any changes to your gamertag after that will incur a charge.

 

Finally decided to get an Xbox One. and it costs me less than 100 out of pocket

 

Same happened for me but luckily i payed by paypal and made a claim against Microsoft with there website statement about free first change as evidence so won my claim,since that day i have had loads of issues with my Xbox one,coincidence or not. Today i
was charged £110 without my consent for an online chat about a console repair and am waiting a refund for that but sadly they took it from my card not paypal or i would peruse them again as to me that's theft when you are not informed they are taking a payment
and not even consenting from me to do so or even mention amounts if they do take with my consent. Truly awful customer relations and judging by these forums they do nothing and have no one really helping in them.

FYI the free name change only applies if you had a randomly generated name not a custom name previously

If you had selected a name previously that's a custom name

The website does list it wrong but if you look up the change itself it does mention the system generated name clause
