Changing your xbox live gamer tag

How long does your previous gamer tag stay locked for before it becomes unlocked and ready to be used again after you've change it to a new gamer tag. Also why doesn't xbox have a "revert to previous gamer tag" feature? Or at least tell you when your old
gamer tag will be ready to use again in the form of a timer somewhere on your profile

Help with changing gamer tag

i want to change my gt to TidalSnow but someone else has already got it and I don't want to replace one of the letters with numbers so if someone could suggest how I change it up a bit to use it that'd be great.

I've tried it with a space between as Tidal Snow but someone's got that too.

I'm not sure anyone knows the exact timeframe it takes for the tag to become available. I've heard anywhere from 24 hours to up to 45 days.

There's no timer anywhere to find out when it would be available.

Smwutches Is Correct, The Only Way Your Going To Have Access To A "Gamer Tag" That Has Already Been Taken Is If That The "Gamer Tag" Was Changed By The Owner Of The Current Gamer-tag Or If Xbox Live Forced The Gamer-Tag To Be Changed If It Violated The Code
Of Conduct In Some Form Or Way, Sorry Mate, You Are Going To Have To Find Another Gamer-Tag Or Be Creative, For Example, "Gengar Man" And So On.

if you are trying to chang your Live ID, you can only do this on an xbox. And it sounds like you are trying to chang it to one that has a gamer tag on it already. You have to use a Live ID that does not have a gamer tag on it and you can only do this on
an Xbox.

For The Gamer-tag To Be Forced Changed. The Owner Of The Gamer-Tag Must Change It Himself Or When a forced gamertag change is imposed due to the Gamer-Tag Violated The Code Of Conduct In Any Sort Of Way, If the gamertag you enter is already taken, you are
prompted to try another gamertag.
Note Gamer-Tags are also tied to services like zune or games for windows live. If a gt doesn't exist on xbox, it might be in use on one of those services. If you try sending the Gamer-tag you want a friend
request and it says it’s not a valid Gamer-tag that just means it isn’t used on xbox live, but it could be used for zune or gfwl.

One thing to remember is that spaces and capitalization don’t make your Gamer-Tag unique. For example, “”, “PR1NCEDARKNESS”, and “” They Are All The Same Gamer-Tags.
