Changing Xbox subscription from gamepass to gold

Hi,

How do I do this? Can I cancel my existing game pass subscription and then start the next day with gold or would it automatically convert the value of the subscription into game pass credit? I was advised to contact support but there is no way to get through
and message or speak to anyone and the call back option is turned off.

A Gamepass subscription is a different and separate service from an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

I know that when upgrading to gamepass ultimate (gamepass and xbox live gold in one) it works out the value of your current remaining subscription and converts it into time on the new subscription. I believe it works the other way, if you manage your
subscription and change it to just gold. You might wanna check first

There is a new service coming soon called gamepass gold which will have both subscriptions . But xbox live gold gives 4 free games a month and gamepass will give access to lots of games for to try which can change.

So I've turned off the recurring billing but the subscription is still there. Do I need to cancel the subscription as well once the paid to period expires and then set up a gold membership? There really is no help for downgrading your subscription and if
it doesn't allow me to start gold the next day I'll have an irate child

Yes, you are correct. You can do it by yourself, you can check here your subscritpions https://account.microsoft.com/services/ , when you see the gamepass ultimate as
"expired", you are free to start a new gold membership.
