I would keep your email as the primary in that case. Your son will be able to sign in using his email. If you are both using the same console, I would sign in with your account and set the console as your Home Console, that way you can share Xbox Live
Gold, Games and Game Pass subscription with your son. More details can be found here on how to share with another account

Hi, thanks for your reply. Before i try it, i have one more question..if I create a new email address for my son and set it as the priority for his xbox sign in, will the previous email he's been using, (ie mine) still be active for me? Meaning I will
still receive emails etc under that address?

1. Sign in to your account using your existing alias and password.
2. Go to Your info at the top of the page.
3. Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
4. You may be asked to verify your account before changes can be made. Follow the instructions provided to select your alias:
   • Select Add email. You can create either a new Outlook.com email address or add an address that you already have. Then, select
     Add alias. You’ll be returned to the previous screen. Select
     Verify and follow the instructions provided.
   • If you can make the new Alias as the Primary, it will have to be used across all of Microsoft services (including Xbox, Office, outlook...etc).
     
   • Note Email addresses and phone numbers that are already an alias on another account can’t be used.
     

It can take up to 48 hours for the change to be implemented across all Microsoft services. If you sign in to your Microsoft account on an Xbox One console by using your Kinect sensor, you might temporarily be asked to manually sign in with a controller.
If you're still being asked to manually sign in after 2 days, try removing your account from the console and then adding it back.

You can use any email address or phone number you have listed as an alias to sign in. To make it harder for someone to break into your account, change your sign-in preferences to turn off any alias you don't want used to sign in.

the only thing you can change is the email address used to sign into a Microsoft Account (Xbox Live Account), this will only change the email address used to sign into the account. (It doesn't transfer the full Xbox Live Account to a different Microsoft
Account)

Changing gamertags, will only result in a different gamertag, it does not change the account or take any save game progress with it.

Is the change sign-ing email address option what you seek or do you want to achieve something else?
