changing username for the first time issue

Is the tag you have a randomly generated tag or one you chose when you created your account?

That would be why. The free change is only given if you were given a randomly generated tag when you created your account and are changing that tag for the first time. Since you chose your tag, you've technically already used your free change.

Now you have to pay to make changes to your username on Xbox.

The only way you can get a free username change is if you were given a random generated username when you created your account and your changing you username for the first time.

Oh, I apologize I only saw the second link, in the first link it says, "When you change your username, your previous name is saved for 37 days. This gives you an additional week to change back if you change your mind before your previous username becomes available to anyone else." The issue is that it's not allowing me to change back during this additional week.
