Changing the MS account associated with an xbox 360 profile

Good day everyone,

I've read several other questions in this related area but still couldn't find an answer. So here's my situation.

In the early 2010s, I had purchased an XBOX 360 and subscribed to the XBOX Live Gold with a Family plan. So it was me and my young 3 sons at the time. The microsoft accounts associated with my 3 sons all were *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***. That subscription has since lapsed and I never renewed it, though I suppose it reverted to an XBOX live free plan instead.

Fast forward to today, and a lot has changed. The way microsoft family plans are managed are completely different not to mention that XBOX 360 is out of support anyways. I now subscribe to the MS 365 Family (and had added said 3 sons to the plan with their xboxlivefamily MS accounts).

One of my sons now has a different MS account (associated with a gmail email now) and there is an XBOX profile associated with it. Of course his xboxlivefamily.com MS account still exists on the XBOX 360. I saw options within the XBOX 360 account security where it allows you to change the MS account associated with the XBOX 360 profile. I had attempted to do this change from his xboxlivefamily.com MS account to his gmail based MS account. It required my approval of course (even though he's almost 18). After entering my information and confirming that I wanted this to change, it tried and just failed and redirected my to xbox.com/accountswap. Going to that URL just results in being redirected to https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/account-profile/manage-account/forgot-microsoft-account-solution and doesn't really have any helpful info on why the change would have failed.

Question, first of all, is this even possible anymore? There are a few reasons I can't think of but just would like confirmation that what I'm trying to do is either not possible due to one or more factors:

1) XBOX 360 family doesn't really exist anymore and it out of support

2) There is already a XBOX profile associated with the MS account I'm trying to migrate it to

OR there is another way to do it successfully. If there is, please advise on how this can be done. Otherwise, if there's not a way...then I suppose he can just continue to play on his old profile since it has all his achievements and saved data on it until the console finally dies.

Also, one final question, how can I disassociated/decouple the 3 xboxlivefamily MS accounts with mine? Everytime they do something (download, change password, etc) it asks for a verification code using my email. My other sons are 20 and older and shouldn't need to a parent involved.

xbox accounts and microsoft accounts were fully merged years ago, you can no longer separate or move an xbox account to another microsoft account as the xbox account IS the microsoft account now.

Back in the day on the 360s it was possible to create a local xbox profile W/O a MS account attached to it what MS called offline profiles you did not have access to play online or anything like that. I am assuming that this is what you created. even today
these offline profiles on 360s can be converted over to online profiles.
At one time back in the day on the 360s there was a way with the online profiles you could change what MS account was associated with the Xbox profile that was taken away approximately 2-3 years ago.

So in your situation in order for someone to have put their MS account on to your xbox profile they would have had to of had access to a 360 that either had your offline profile on it and then attached their email to your xbox profile

Or:
If you had an online profile with a MS account already attached to this person would either:
1. Prior to them taking away the capability this person would have had to of known your email address and password and downloaded your account to a 360 and then went in and changed the email address on your MS account/xbox profile

Or
2. Would have had access to your original xbox 360 that had your MS account/xbox profile on it and signed into your account and changed the MS account email address to their email.

These are the only way that your Xbox profile could have gotten onto this person MS account.

At this point unfortunately like other people have stated the only thing that can be done as far as the games go would be the game sharing option on the xbox one as far as game progress unless you sign into that MS account and use the game progress you
would have to start over with a new MS account and GamerTag

Even if the Date of Birth is changed on the MS account it will not change what the system has for the Xbox profile that is associated with that account.

Once the Date of Birth is entered into the system when the MS account is being created that is the Date of Birth for the Xbox profile for the life of the account and can not be changed.

Until that Date of Birth reaches the age of majority (18 in 99% of the world) it will be considered a child account on the Xbox platform.

There is NO way to change this including going through the processes that you have done.

The only thing that can be done is changing the email address that is associated with you family member to one that you use.

Since the email that you currently have and are wanting to put onto your family members account is already a MS account (if it is a MS server email outlook.com, Hotmail.com, msn.com, live.com) you would not be able to move this current email.

If your family members email is a MS server email and you add an alias to his account and remove his email from that account that MS server email will be gone forever.

Let me see if I can explain it a little better.

Each Xbox profile is associated with ONE MS account once it is put onto that account it can not be changed. Hence NO profiles can be moved between MS Accounts.

The ONLY thing that can be changed is what email address is used to sign into that account/profile.

When a Xbox profile is attached to a MS account it is attached to that particular account.

The email that is used for that MS account can be changed.

The thing is this IF the Email address that is associated with the MS account is a MS server email then if you follow the link in the post that T3chnlgydude posted and remove the email it will be DELETED FOREVER and you will not be able to get it back.
