Changing the main email to a xbox account

I was wanting to change the main email of my Xbox account as it's my mom's email on the account. Would changing emails alter the save data on that Xbox account? The email I want to change it to also has an Xbox account so would I also have to switch the email on that other Xbox account as well? My Xbox account has years of achievements and saved data and I'm concerned switching emails could erase all that.

Great question!

Email address' can only be associated to one Xbox/Microsoft account at a time. You can change them as much as you want or create new one pretty easily, but they can only be associated to one account. If you're looking to move an email address off an account, you would have to remove it from its existing one and then add it to the new one. Be aware that you still need at least one email associated to a Microsoft account, so you may need to create a new email address for that account (which can be done in the account with an @outlook email address).

Recover the "dummy" account on the Xbox and change the email address to something else, that will free up your email address to use on your main gamertag.

Then once that email address becomes free, change it on your main gamertag. Job done.

I've got the exact same issue.

Problem is that my main account uses an old email adress (hotmail) which isn't in use anymore. As my main email adress is used by a Windows 10 generated Xbox account my question is wether it's possible to delete this account, so my main Xbox account can
use my main email adress.

Is this a possibility and if yes, how do I fix it?

You don't need to delete the account. Simply log in to
https://account.microsoft.com and change the email to the one you want to use. You'll want to make sure you do this with the main email you want to use first. This will free up that email for you then you can use that email for your main account. The
change will take place immediately for you.

You will have to change your email address on the dummy account, to free it up. Then once that is done, change the email address on your main account to your main email address (as it will become available again). Job
