Changing the Gamertag

I try to change my gamertag for the first time and it won't let me do it without paying, but the first gamertag change is supposed to be free. I think there is an error with my account.

Sorry to hear about the GT change troubles. Let's see what we can do.

Looking into this error code, there is not a lot of troubleshooting we can do, as the GFWL Marketplace has been retired.

Have you tried doing this on a different internet connection?

Let us know, and we can work from there.

Hi if you've spoken with support and they didn't change it for you then you have no option but to pay unfortunately. Sorry for not saying what you wanted to hear, but it's the only way.

Only the default gtag appointed by the system can be changed for free, you seem to already have been done so, for this reason you have to pay a fee to change your gtag

Only the default gamertag MS gives you when you create an account is able to change for free so from that point on you need to pay for gt changes $15

Yes, changing the gamertag again should be possible, als changing back to your previous Gamertag is possible, as long as your original Gamertag isn't already taken by somebody else.

Keep in mind each change will require a payment.

I'm afraid there are no free gamertag changes, if a gamertag was deemed to break the CoC/ToU then you will given a generated one and if you want to change the gamertag into something chosen by yourself it will have the fee like any gamertag change.
