    Changing primary account on XBox


    My husband has an XBox that my son plays a lot. He decided to create a profile for our son last night so he can set parental controls. After doing this they discovered that none of the add-on items my son has purchased in his games, Fortnite, Skate 3, Forza
    are available on his account.

    My husband said he tried creating a new account for himself and tried to make the new one the primary so our son can play on the original account and set parental controls on that account.

    Is it possible to change the primary account holder?

    Hi,

    In order for your son to enjoy his gaming content ( games, add-ons ..) he must always sign into the Xbox using the original account. Adding a new email as alias to your son's account and make it primary won't help with putting restrictions.

    But to put parental restrictions, you must create a family group with another account and add your son's account as Child account. Steps are here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12417/microsoft-account-add-members-to-family

    Unfortunately not, it appears the primary/lead account is always the one used to purchase the membership.
    What is a primary and secondary Family Pack account?

    The Xbox LIVE account used to purchase a Gold Family Pack membership is the primary Family Pack account. All other Xbox LIVE accounts associated with the Family Pack membership are secondary accounts.

    To see and add family pack members:

    1. On your console, sign in using the Xbox LIVE account that you used to sign up for a Family Pack membership (the primary account).
    2. Go to Settings and then select Family.
    The primary and secondary accounts are shown. To add or remove family members, please see Managing Gold Family Pack members.

    Hi there,

    you can't merge accounts itself or fully move the Xbox Live Account to a different Microsoft Account, but something that could work for you is changing the primary email address for the Microsoft Account.

    My assumption what steps might be required are:

    - Change the primary email on the New Unused Xbox Account account to something else (you might need a new MS account/email for that) so that the Wanted email address is no longer attached to a Microsoft Account.

    - Change the primary email on the Old Xbox account to the new wanted email address, so that that Wanted email address can be used to sign in to the Xbox main account.
