Changing my Gamertag

Hello,everyone I'd like to change my gamertag to NazimTariq05 but it is not allowed I'm not sure why but is their anyway i can make Xbox allow me to have the tag.

Thinking of changing my gamertag. HELP!!!

I have had the same embarrassing Gamertag since I was like 8 back in 2006. Now I finally am thinking of changing it to seem cooler or more "professional".
Some Ideas I have
-Atsrobadgr (I use this on a few websites)
-rainbowtanuki (I'm gay and I like Japanese racoon dogs)

That's all I have! I hate my current Gamertag and I don't want to use my real name and I don't want those names with X's and numbers and things that make it look weird.Click to expand...

Well, if you want something more professional, I don't think either fit the bill. Perhaps professional isn't what you meant. But out of the two Astrobadgr is the better name, IMO.

Hey there, Nazim

You may not be able to have the Gamertag because someone else has the Gamertag on Xbox, Zune, MSN and other Microsoft Services.

Because all Gamertags are issued on a first come first service. If this is the case, then no one will be able to free that Gamertag for you. However, the Gamertag, if it is not been used, will be freed after 3 years of inactivity.

I'm trying to change my classic gamertag which is the one you see in games. My classic gamertag got changed and my Xbox One and Xbox App gamertag stayed the same (the Xbox One gamertag is the ones they added with the new gamertag system).

My Xbox One gamertag is different to my in-game gamertag and I want my classic gamertag to be changed. You can only change your classic gamertag on the Xbox One console, I have tried using the other ways and you can only change your Xbox Gamertag, not your
classic gamertag.

The reason I want to change my classic gamertag is that the classic gamertag can be fifteen characters and the Xbox One gamertag can only be 12 characters. If I use the other ways to change my gamertag it limits me to 12 characters and sets both my gamertags
to that.

On xbox.com it says my gamertag is what i changed it to. But on xbox it shows my changed gamertag in games, but when i go to my profile it shows my old gamertag and right under it it shows the gamertag i did change it to.

So you said I can change my classic gamertag. How do I change that after already changing my gamertag or do I have to change my entire gamertag again to change the classic one?

Hi there,

Yes, changing the gamertag again should be possible, als changing back to your previous Gamertag is possible, as long as your original Gamertag isn't already taken by somebody else.

Keep in mind each change will require a payment.
