Changing My Gamertag | Gamertag Resets

Greetings! My name is Derrick, but I'm known as .



First off, I've made a new account on Xbox LIVE and I'm trying to change the gamertag to "D e r r i c k".

I read somewhere that you're not able to create a gamertag with spaces in it like that if the original gamertag is taken (Derrick).

That's pretty lame to me if it turns out to be true.



Second, the gamertag 'Derrick' has been
inactive for years. I've been checking weekly for around 4 to 5 years to see if it has been reset.

The person who owns that account has been inactive for a very long time and I use Xbox LIVE every single day.

I pay monthly to be a member of Xbox LIVE, but I can't have the gamertag I want because some guy is sitting on it? Very disappointing.



There are a ton of inactive gamertags that
PAYING CUSTOMERS deserve to have instead of people that haven't been on in 3+ years.

I'd be extremely grateful if you guys could do something about this 'Derrick' gamertag for me.

Even if you change your Gamertag, you purchases and saves are still locked to your account. I could change my gamertag right now and I still have everything. It stays with the email address you signed up with, not gamertag.

 

Sorry, but no one here can do anything about the tag for you. You are correct that the system does not see things such as spaces as making a gamertag unique. So you cannot have the tag while it is taken like that.

There is no way to request a specific gamertag. The tag system is also in use on other Microsoft services. So while it's not being used on Xbox, it could be in use elsewhere.

 

I was told by 'Joseph Ezekiel' from the Support Chat that posting here could possibly get something done. I'm not giving up hope on this because of how ridiculous it is that they allow amazing gamertags to go unused. I'll continue to try until they start
recycling more gamertags.

 

sorry you will have to give up then cause it is not gonna happen you cannot request a certain tag if it is not available then guess what it is not available, choose a different tag.
