  1. Changing Microsoft account accosiated with gamer tag

I'll chime in as well. Contacted Xbox Customer Support and was told there were three factors:

' In changing the email address linked to your gamertag there are certain factors that we have to consider.

    1. The profile/gamertag should be stored in the Xbox 360 console for at least 30 days.

    2. The email that you are going to use should not be linked with any gamertag. (Please remember, once an email is signed in to Xbox.com, it automatically generates a gamertag).

    3. The profile/gamertag should not have any remaining Microsoft points/currency because these are not transferable.'

1 & 2 he confirmed I was good on but then tried to have me remove the rest of my currency. Well there is only $0.65 left. What could I possibly buy for $0.65? ... Anyways after we're through discussing that bit he tells me and I quote:

"Oh! Good News! The changes has been processed now. I can see 2 accounts with the same gamertag for ***@myemail and **@myotheremail. Which means, the changes has been initiated already. Please be patient and wait up 24-72 hours to fully transfer the details
    of your account."

...Well here's to patience... cuz nada.

    :)

  3. Gamer tag linked to dead account

Alright so I made a new Microsoft account with a new email. My regular gamer tag (LukoJuko) is linked to my old Microsoft account, and I'm changing the Microsoft account that "LukoJuko" is connected to. Will my gamer score and xbox gold membership carry
    over?

The alias won't work for me. Because I already have a Microsoft account, I can't make my email a primary alias on another account. And both accounts are being used for windows 8 computers.

Regardless of what you do, the Account Swap feature is absolutely garbage and needs to be removed. It is just like getting that darn Bing! browser stuck on your computer, it's just that useless. Allow me to explain in more detail.

So, I read everything there is to know about Account Swap. So, I decided to give it a go. Of course, like everyone else in this thread, I got the message "Yo dawg, we can't do this right now. You need to go xBox.Com/AccountSwap to fix this stuff." So,
I did. No real helpful information.

Again, I checked everything off my list. [x] No currency on my Microsoft account. [x] Both emails are valid and over 30 days old as a Microsoft ID. [x] No gamertag associated to my account. [x] No account changes in 30 days.

I should be golden, right? WRONG. So, I hit up Chat Support. They tell me that it will take a month to look into it. That was practical. They escalated it- saying that you'll hear back from Microsoft Advocacy team in about 48 hours. Awesome, great
response Customer Support. Two days pass, no message or phone call. Talk to Support again, "Sorry, it's actually up to four days." Awesome, okay, I can do two more days. 48 hours later. "Sorry, it's actually four BUSINESS DAYS." Well, at this time it
had been FIVE business days. "Oh.. Okay.. If the Advocacy team hasn't gotten back to you by the end of 25th, I'll just have my manager take care of it."

^^ Why couldn't this have been done from the first moment, saved me the hassle. It would have been great. So, with almost SIX days of waiting, I'm a little irritated. Apparently, Microsoft either needs to get a BIGGER ADVOCACY TEAM, spend some money
and hire more people or fire the ones that aren't pulling their weight. I understand, Microsoft is a HUGE corporation. But with the kind of profit xBox Live pulls, you'd think you could spend a few hundred kay a year to get a few more people staffed.

So word of advice, don't effing bother.

    Hey there

On your Microsoft account, do you have security proofs

If not, please head over to
    http://account.live.com

Sign into your account, head over to security, then add security proofs onto your account

    .

This may be presenting the error code, and is the only one I can think of at this present time

    .

    Please post back any results

    Regards,

I set up 2 set verification on both accounts and still get the error code 8016FE6D after hitting 'Yes, change' after signing in to both accounts.

I've also tried making a different primary alias for the current Microsoft account, but I get the same error there too.

  11. Also having this problem when trying to switch to the account I have setup with my Window phone so I can make use of the Xbox apps and games on it. There isn't any money on either of my accounts, both are over 30 days old, and the one I was trying to move
it to wasn't connected to any gamertag. So no obvious reason for this issue. I quickly went to chat support (I hate phone support, especially when one or the other of us can't understand each other's accents well), and told them the issue. She made no mention
of error code, so I assume she just focused on the description of the problem once the code turned up no information on the problem. After checking into my accounts she claimed the issue was due to having previous Office product subscriptions on the account
(I find it weird that even has an effect on switching gamertags). The solution I was given was to first switch my gamertag to a brand new Microsoft account and then after the 30 days was up to switch again to then move it to the account I wanted it on.

Has everyone else who has been getting this error code had any previous or current Office product on one or both of the accounts? If so, this might be the solution we need. If not, I can quickly rule this out and won't even bother wasting my time.

What I have noticed based on this thread and one other about this error code is that everyone seems to have a Windows phone set up with the account they're trying to switch their gamertag to. I kinda wonder if this might be the root of the problem instead.
Also found that while I didn't have anything Xbox on my Windows phone signed in, when I checked to make sure it didn't try to use my account and make a gamertag anyways that in the settings it had Connect with Xbox, Sync Game Requests, and Show Game Notifications
turned on despite never even using the app. The Xbox Games app also shows games that aren't Xbox phone games, so I do wonder if this automatic setting and my playing those games are the real issue despite not being signed in to my account. Or even just the
fact that the Xbox Games app has that setting automatically turned on and I setup my phone with that account.

It does seem odd that an old office subscription would cause this, but I do have an old subscription and a purchased suite (home and student). But even if I do transfer from one account to a fake/temporary one, wouldn't I still be getting the error code
when I try to transfer to my real one?

I do have a windows phone and a windows 8 laptop, but neither have an account setup in the games app.

  13. Changing Microsoft account accosiated with gamer tag

I just noticed people having the issue usually had a Windows phone and took a guess that could be related to the problem. When I double-checked to make sure it didn't try to create an account on my phone I had noticed in the Xbox games app settings that
it automatically turned on Connect with Xbox which is supposed to upload and sync stuff with your Xbox even if you don't sign into any account. So I wondered if that might be the problem somehow, but knowing that someone else experiencing this issue has Office
subscriptions involved I'm inclined to believe the support representative was right on the cause of it.

Well according to the support I talked to it shouldn't give the error and should work. Not really sure how that fixes it exactly, it's an odd issue all around. I do know that I have an old Office subscription on my gamertag account and both old and current
subscriptions on the account I'm trying to move it to. Still not sure why this affects it, but my guess is the dummy account is supposed to work because it won't have any Office subscriptions connected to it.

I'll go ahead and give it a try and post back in 30 days to let everyone know if it solves it. Really wish there was a quicker way to solve this, though.

I hope you haven't done it yet flames because I've never had an Office account and I'm still getting the error. I honestly don't think swapping your Xbox account around is going to do anything but make you wait another 30 days.

There might be some possibility. I'm getting a different error when I go to the temporary email. In my attempts to solve the problem, I deleted and downloaded the profile again which reset the 30 day waiting period. I still attempted to do the switch:

When going to my real email, I got the error code 8016FE6D.

When going to the temporary email, I get the 'sorry we can change your account at this time' meaning the 30 day waiting period is active.

So the fact I get two different error codes must show... Something.
