Changing linked Xbox account

Hello,

When I created my Xbox Live account, I linked it to my previous Microsoft Account (let's say
A mail). Later I began using another Microsoft Account (B mail), which I'm using as my primary to this day. With the creation of the B account I had Xbox Live account automatically created, however I continued using my Xbox
Live account on the A account.

Recently I wanted to make a change, so that B Microsoft Account is linked to my Xbox Account (which is currently linked to A mail). I tried numerous ways, even directly changing the Microsoft Account on my Xbox console or via "Manage how you sign in to Microsoft"
on the https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ page, but to no avail.

I don't care at all about the Xbox account on B mail, but would really want to have my A mail Xbox Account linked to B mail Microsoft Account - since
B mail is my primary Microsoft Account and
A mail is the Xbox Account where I have all my achievements etc.

If it's still unclear: I want to log in to my A mail Xbox Account using B mail Microsoft Account (to which I have another Xbox Account linked, which is not used), but can't change it via various ways.

I hope my goal is clear but I can help by explaining more, if needed.

I'd be grateful if there was any solution to my problem.

Hello,

Do I understand correctly, that after your directions the A1 account will be linked to the newly created Outlook email and not to the primary one for the A2 account (the one with which I created my Microsoft Account)? I'd prefer to keep the original email
as the primary one and link Xbox Account to it, not to the new Outlook email.

If so and if there are no other options, please confirm and I'll keep it the way it is and I'll also agree to close the thread.

If not, I'll try your directions, but kindly please first answer the above.

What I'm trying to achieve is when I log in to my PC via my Microsoft Account (and my primary email) and for example, turn on the Xbox app, to see my Xbox Account, not the one which is currently linked to that account.

And vice versa - to log in to my Xbox Live Account using my primary email from A2 (I'd not like to log in with the new Outlook email).

Hi there Stan,

Thanks for the reply. In reference to your questions, the option is not available if both accounts have the Microsoft Domain for Emails. As recommended, take a look a the following article: Change
the email address or phone number for your Microsoft account.

A new email address. Select Create a new email address and add it as an alias, and then follow the instructions.
A non-Microsoft email address (such as an @gmail.com or @yahoo.com email address). Select Add an existing email address as a Microsoft account alias, and then select Add alias.
If you remove an alias that's an email address from a Microsoft domain (like @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com), the email is permanently deleted from our systems and can no longer be used to send or receive emails,
nor can it be transferred to a different account. Microsoft also doesn't recycle email addresses, which means the alias can't be reclaimed later.

To make things simple i am going to go by this layout.

A1= Account 1 with the xbox profile that you want to keep

A2= Account 2 with the email that you want to keep and put on your profile that is linked to A1

So as long as the email that is linked to A2 is not a MS server email (Outlook, Hotmail, MSN, or Live.com) email then this is going to be possible.

Keep in mind the only thing that is changing is the email that is used to sign into the account with ALL purchases for MS including any Office, Xbox or anything like that is linked to the MS account itself. So if you have any purchases like that linked to
A2 and you make this change they will not then be linked to A1 they will still be linked to A2.

So with that being said the way to do this and IF the email on A2 is NOT a MS server email follow these directions.

1. Sign into A2 at account.live.com/addassocid and choose the first option to create a new MS email (Outlook.com) This will put another email onto A2 as a place holder so that we can remove the original email that is on that account.

2. Once added make this new email the primary email for A2.

3. Once the new email is the primary email you can then remove the email that you want associated with A1.
DO NOT REMOVE THIS EMAIL IF IT IS A MS SERVER EMAIL BECAUSE IF YOU DO IT WILL DELETE THAT EMAIL AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET IT BACK AND THERE IS NO ONE ANYWHERE THAT WILL BE ABLE TO GET IT BACK FOR YOU.

This will then free up that email so that you can add it to A1 as an alias.

4. Sign out of that account.

5. Sign into A1 at account.live.com/addassocid and choose the second option to add an existing email to your account (A1) add it and then you can make it the primary email and either keep the other email on the account or you can remove that email from the
account.

Thank you for the answer.

I understand that unfortunately it's impossible. However is there a way to unlink or delete the Xbox Live Account linked to the B (target) Microsoft Account and then link the A Xbox Live Account? Or the other way around - unlink Xbox Live Account from the
A Microsoft Account (would the achievements be stored locally then?) and then link it to the B Microsoft Account?
