    Hello folks,

    back in the days, you simply changed the language during the installation process. Job done.

    Nowadays (Gamepass Ultimate here) you are either locked to the regions language or locked out of a folder.

    - Origin (back then) in Poland: Russian and Polish only which is redicilous in games like Battlefield
    - Now EA another example: I can only buy the Polish version of FIFA with no option to change the language (both speech and text) to english
    etc.

    The only platform allowing this for most games easily is Steam.

    Now, I'm totally messed up mentally how to change the language. The game I'm asking about is Prey. The audio is english, but the damn text is in german which messes up my mind.

    I tried finding the folder of the game which seems locked behind a folder (WindowsApps?) and I'm not even sure about it. Access to that folder would give me the possibility to swap the damn language files. Then I found a mod... but this mod can't find the folder of the game with the *.exe file. I'm about to go nuts.

    What in the gods name is happening? Why is this such a complicated matter? I don't want to change my systems language (which I use for work) to english, I just want to change the text's language from german to english in Prey. Seems like impossible in these times good lord.......

    Most threads which I've found are simply locked down by a Mod with NO REAL ANSWERS as to how to change the damn language in a game.
    Well and here I am hoping to know something what I might miss.

    I do get mate, but how odd. It should've been a way for you to change the text. :/ Is your PC language in English?

    Hi.... apart from the autotext in your post:

    I'm not well since I know that this problem is a problem to persist for years and there is no fix without messing up my system.
    Audio in Prey can be changed to english, the text can't be changed in the menues, these are in german.

    I'm sick of stripped games of language choices EVERYWHERE like we are all going back instead of advancing forward.

    So, unfortunately, the gamepass installed games are impossible to edit their directory, because they are in this very folder (WindowsApps) and the Windows does not allow it to be edited. :/ In game, there's and option for you to change the language of the game and also the subtitles. You did look for it, but do not find it?

    Ok thank you, that actually solved my problem! :)

    The game apparently defaults to French when the language is set to English (and only French and German are available languages for the game).

    My region was set to Germany for some time but my console was always set to English. And the game always defaulted to French. So the game doesn't care about my region settings and only checks the language settings. When changing the console/system language to German the game is also German (English is not an option and when set as the system language changes the games language to French).

    I Agree too. I'm german, but would like to change the language to english because of Kinect commands that work better for me in english and because i like to use english language in games (because the german translation isn't that good in games/movies).

    But i still want to use the german store and live servers.
