Changing language / country and games subscriptions on xbox 1

We're and English family, living in France, and I want to buy my kids an Xbox1 for christmas. Does it matter where I buy it from? For the subscriptions? For the language? We will want to play in English, can I do that if we buy in France? Also, we'll be
in the UK for Christmas and the kids will want to play with their new present. If I buy the console in France will they be able to play the games in the UK for the week, and then be able to play them when we return to France? Or do subscriptions like game
pass only work in the country you buy them from??? Thanks for all help, I've never bought a console before so am completely in the dark in how they work.

    :)

As the previous person stated, the only main difference will be the power cord. However, some games may appear or not appear on the french and English stores respectively, depending on the rating systems/ banned games in either country. This likely won't
be a problem, but if a game is missing off one store, it may be on the other.

In order for that to work, you will need to take a few things into consideration:

First of all, what WILL work:

If you buy a Xbox One S or X, the console will work everywhere. You will just need a fitting power cord (i.e. one for UK based wall outlets and one for French outlets).

Should you buy an older original Xbox One with external power supply, you will have trouble should you travel to the US or Japan, where the outlets have a different voltage. But with an S or X model, the console will work, no matter what country.

Also, games that you buy anywhere in the world will work on all Xbox One consoles (with the exception of some Chinese-only games).

The language settings are a bit more complicated. While you can set the console language and country to any country you like (e.g. if you set the console to English and country Great Britain) the console will show English text.

Now the part where it gets a bit trickier:

Games sometimes don't come with all languages included. So if you buy a disc based game in France, the game will work on the console, but depending on disc space, the publisher might only put the French language into the game.

Also the subscriptions and other payment related stuff might be an issue, depending on how you set up the different user accounts. PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY!

If this is the first console for your kids, make sure you create separate accounts for you as a parent, and for each kid their own account.

If the kids are not yet of legal adult age, make sure you enter the correct birthdate, when you create the child accounts, then add them to your parent account through the Microsoft Family Website at
    https://account.microsoft.com/family

You should choose the country and address of the account that fits you (or the child's) payment option!

If you have a bank account in France, create a French account. If you have your bank account in the UK, create an UK based account.

However, if the console is set to English and United Kingdom as country, and you have a French payment account, you will have issues buying games through the console.

But you will be able to buy games on the Xbox.com website on the French marketplace, and download the games when you (or the account that bought the game on the website) is signed in on the console.

If you buy currency gift cards or subscription gift cards, be aware that these are also country restricted.

So if you buy the cards in a French store, and you created UK based accounts, they won't work.

You will have to buy currency cards and Subscriptions that match your billing country of your account.

After you redeemed them on the account, the account with the subscription can be used worldwide.

So if you have created French accounts, buy the subscriptions and add them to the respective accounts with the correct country. Then you can go anywhere.

Also be aware that the Xbox One can share subscriptions to anyone playing on that console.

So if you only have one console, and several persons should play on that console, you can add your subscriptions and buy games with one account, and if that account set the console as their "Home Console", that console will share all subscriptions and games
of that account to anyone playing on that console. So you don't need multiple subscriptions for each and every kid.

And again: The only critical step for redeeming subscriptions and buying games is, that the purchase or redemption has to match the country of the account's billing country. After the game was bought or the subscription was redeemed, it doesn't matter to
    which country you go.

But be aware, that if you set the console to English United Kingdom, the console will access the Xbox Store in the UK, even if you are in France. So you will have trouble buying games if the account(s) have a French billing address and French payment method.

Changing language / country and games subscriptions on xbox 1

Hi, you can buy the xbox where you want (in Europe all the xbox are equivalent), you will only need the correct power cable for the different states.

In the settings of the console you can set your region as "France" and your language as "English", doing this will let you play the games in english and buy the game from the French store in € with a French method of payment, if you will travel in the UK
all the games and subscription that you have active on your account will work since are not region locked.

The only problem is that if you buy a gift card or for the UK store you will not be able to redeem it if your console if it is set as located in France, to redeem it you need to change the region in the settings as "UK". All the games that you redeem in
UK or in France will be availble on your account forever and worldwide.

Basically you can set the xbox with the region that you prefer based on which method of payment you have, if you have only French credit card I suggest you to set the region as France, if you have only UKs cards set it as UK

    Hello

If text in the Xbox Dashboard appears in another language, you may need to change your console or Xbox LIVE account language. Here’s how:

    3. Select Language and Locale.
    4. Select Language.
    5. Select the language that you want to use.

Change your Xbox LIVE account language

If your Xbox LIVE account is set to a country or region that supports multiple languages (for example, Canada), you can change your Xbox LIVE account language. Here’s how:

      1. Go to Billing Account Information.
      2. Sign in using your Microsoft account.
      3. If multiple languages are supported for your country or region, select a language from Preferred Language.
