Changing Gamertag problem

Hi,

So I have a problem with my gamertag. My gamertag is "" and I want to change it to "Thik95". I went through all the process to change it on my xbox one. I confirmed the change and got charged for it, but in the end, my gamertag didn't change
at all. I've waited for an hour to see if it changed but it didn't. It shouldn't be that long right? What do I do now? Try again and hope not to get charged for it or just call support? And who am I supposed to call exactly for this problem? It's my first
time having problem with that, so I kind of don't know what to do now. Please help me.

You only get a free change if you're still using the pre-assigned one you get when you first create your account.

I can't change my Gamertag (GT).

Just because you can't friend request a GT doesn't mean it is available. First of all, all GT are tied to services like Zune or Games for Windows LIVE. If a GT doesn't exist on Xbox, it might be in use on one of those services. Also, spaces and capitalization
are not considered when looking for available GTs. For example, "Major Nelson" is the same as "MajorNelson" is the same as "MaJoR nElSoN". Basically if the service says the GT isn't available, it isn't available.

I heard old GTs are being re-added. When will "This GT" be available?

There is no schedule or estimated dates for when certain GTs will become available again. GTs are not an on-demand service. They will be available when they are available.

Please check account.microsoft.com and see if the transaction went through for your Gamertag change.

Yes, it went through, I even received an email with the info of the transaction, but my gamertag is still the same.

No not yet, I called support twice and it's still not correct. First time I called they told me wait to wait 24h and then call back. So I waited 24h and then call back. The secobd time I called, they told me they had server problems the day i changed my
gamertag and that it may be the cause. They told me they would give me my money back and then I could do it again, but he couldn't find his supperior so he told me to call back today. Which I haven't done yet.

Thank you for letting me know, Thik79. Have you tried to re-try changing the Gamertag using the same Gamertag Thik95 as well? This works with other fellow gamers. You can try that and you can also contact the official Xbox Support so the refund promised
would be processed. Please don't forget to update us here on this. Thanks!

Hi,

I got my refund for the time it didn't work and i just changed my gamertag again with succes! Everything is fine now. Thanks for the help!

Also, attempting to contact someone about it is pointless. Accounts cannot be transferred between people, even if the person was willing to give it up.

Hello, it's not a glitch, the gamertag is either an Xbox original or used on Zune, meaning it cannot be on anybody's friends list. But you should keep checking to see if it is in use soon hence they are transferring the gamertags over to Xbox live from the
original to make them available.

Yup I just did about 20 mins ago. it still won't update completely for my friends some of them it says my new gamertag and from some of the others it shows my old name. Sometimes when I'm in a random party and someone tries to add me because it shows my
old gamertag whenever the person tries to add me it tells them my gamertag is no longer there and I end up having to send them a friend invite.
