Changing Gamertag linked email

Hello,

I previously set up my son's gamertag for Minecraft (xbox) and linked it to my gmail address. I have since created a gmail account for him as well as a microsoft account using that new gmail address. I am trying to transfer his gamertag over to his new account. I tried changing the alias email from my gmail to his but keep getting a message saying that the email is already being used.

how can I change the email associated with this gamertag so he doesn't lose his progress?

Thanks. And how do I delete the email from the Microsoft account?

Hi ADetz! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

You can't use this email as has already been used for a different Microsoft account, when you add a different alias it's best to create the email during the process of alias change.

In regard to transfer the Xbox account, in order to split that account from your email you will need to delete that email as a Microsoft account

The link to change gamertag says that the gamertag is allready existing.

You have to unkink any email from your old gamertag.

Then unlink the actual gamertag with your email account.

And finally , link the old gamertag to your email account."

I changed the 1st option, the one that is directly associated with my profile, the one that is used to sign into xbox live.

I followed the links but they didn't help. Thanks for the reply.
