Changing Gamertag Issue

I'm having an issue with changing my gamertag. I have already contacted Chat Support, Twitter Support and Phone Support and was told that only the Enforcement Team would be able to help me, and that it is only a slight chance at that.

This is not an issue related to a banned account or anything of that nature. Would someone from the Enforcement team be able to contact me about the issue please?

Changing Gamertag Issue

All a report will do is get an enforcement on your account and get you a random tag generated for you, you will not get a tag of your choice.

Did you open an unauthorised access case when your account was hacked?

If you did, support would have a record of it and could offer you a free change.

Hi there, it sounds weird that the enforcement team would be the only ones to help with this issue and to be honest, I don't believe they are even a contactable team, certainly not through here. Official Xbox support patrols these forums.

Would you mind outlining your issue here? Do you want to change your tag to one that appears inactive? Let us know and hopefully someone can assist.

Hey there, DigitalAssassin,

I found it weird that I was told to contact the Enforcement Team as well. I found it even weirder that I was told that the only way to contact them was via the Xbox Forums, all of this was told to me by Phone support. As an Ambassador, I was confused as
I had never heard of that before, but I figured that I may as well try it.

It involves changing it to a gamertag that is inactive that is my gamertag previously. It has only been used on my account and is not in use anywhere else. I was told that the Enforcement Team has a way to do this, since it is my previous gamertag, not just
a random gamertag that I want to go to.

Of course, I know all of the normal troubleshooting and none has worked.

Yes, very curious!

That's weird that it's not letting you change back and when you try and add the gamertag as a friend, it's not showing that someone has taken it? (Obviously don't post the gamertag in case some smart alec does).

I know it's very possible to change your tag and change it back to what you had previously as I've seen friends do it, you definitely won't find the enforcement team replying here, but I'm sure the official support guys could look into this for you and I
definitely think it's a situation for them.

Ya, the GT i previously used is not in use on ANY Microsoft service (confirmed both by a Chat agent as well as Phone agent.) and it can't be found on Xbox.com

I know it's possible to do so as I've done it on a different account a while ago. Not too sure what to do now as I've been in contact with the Official Xbox Chat Support, Twitter Support and Phone support and I keep getting pushed to another form of contact.
Haha. Latest was phone support telling me to post on the forums and ask for the Enforcement Team.

I'll let you in on a secret that's more my personal opinion than anything else. The support agents around here really know their stuff and won't push you to another form of support if it's within their power to fix the issue.

I suggest just sitting tight for the time being and see what they have to say when they see this thread.

Hey there, F1R3ASSAS1N411! You are able to change your gamertag for free within the first 30 days. After that 30 days, you will need to pay to change it if you are not happy with it anymore. Previously, we offered free gamertag changes when you received
a forced name change as well, but that has since been discontinued. This definitely seems like something that would do terrific over on our

Except on psn you can't change your name

fyi you should feel privileged to even have the ability to have a name change Lord

10bucks is nothing maybe a change of priorities is in order ?

It's 10-25bucks on most gaming services

not to mention you don't get the weekly maintaince that occurs on psn

A forced name change won't solve your issue

Fyi read the terms of use

Forced name changes only occur when the name violated the terms of use

Also you get a random name issued during one after which you need to pay 10bucks to change it

maybe you should think about your priorities

Hey, Paiste! That shouldn't affect it at all. I've ran into another user that is having the same issue in game with Gears 2 and 3 with their friends.

Is it that the party option in these games is now grayed out for you? That is what another user is running into, and if you guys are both doing it, I'd like to work with you to see if we can fix it.

Hey, Paiste! You will not be able to play in parties in game with users on Xbox One consoles while you are playing 360 games. You will need to create an Xbox One party on the console to be in a party with those users. You should be able to create parties
in game for 360 games with other 360 users by pressing the Menu and View buttons on your controller while in the 360 game to bring up the 360 Guide. Party options should be on the first slide there.
