Changing gamertag for the first time

Hi.

I know that the first time of changing Xbox gamertag is free, only if I didn't choose it on account creation. I tried that, but it requires a payment.

It's still not a randomly generated tag and would require payment in order to change it. A randomly generated tag would be something along the lines of what Crumb Snatcherz said, "FaintCalf1628", basically 2 words followed by numbers. Even if you chose
the gamertag from a list of suggested gamertags, that would still be considered the same as you entering your own.

I don't chosed it. I don't remember if I chose that in a list when I registered but for sure I don't chosed it.

Hey,

If your GamerTag is not a generic tag, like FaintCalf1628, it has already been changed and you would have to pay to change it again.

Hi there,

The system would not have assigned that gamer tag to your account. This means that you must have chosen it at some point. To change your gamer tag again you would have to pay the standard fee for it.

If you customized your gamertag on the creation step (and didn't choose the one from a list), then you already used your free gamertag change. For example, I can't change mine too since I made the one myself while creating the account
