Changing Gamertag Back

Hello.

I have sort of a strange request. I wanted to change my gamertag back to what it was on original Xbox. When I signed in to my Xbox 360 I was given the option to change gamertags, so I did. Now I'm finding my current gamertag annoying. I'd like to go back
to SanitaryChimp. When I tried to change my current Gtag to Chimp. It says it still exists. I looked it up and it's actually my old profile from OXbox. My question is if there's anyway to revert my gamertag to it's old one. I had a conversation with support
and they recommended me here.

Here's the conversation I had with Ivan

Eric: Very cool

Ivan: However, I just want to set the expectation that we cannot recycle old gamertags. I can only process to recover and check it. Alright?

Eric: Ok

Ivan: Before we proceed, can you help me by providing your previous Gamertag?

Eric: Yes

Eric: It was SanitaryChimp, spelled like SaNiTaRyCHIMP I believe

Ivan: I see. Thank you for that.

Ivan: Can you still remember it's email?

Eric: I want to say it's the same as this account. When I got my 360 if I remember right, it gave me the option to change it

Ivan: Ah I see. Having said that, if you were given a free gamertag change for the second time. It could be possible that your previous gamertag is reported for being abusive or profane.

Ivan: I hope you understand that we have provided you a free Gamertag change for the second time to give you another chance to provide a new Gamertag.

Eric: I wasn't given any warning or notification, it simply asked if I wanted to change gamertag. I didn't think you could report names on the original Xbox

Ivan: On that one, other users/players will be the one to report that. And the Enforcement team will be checking it and will be giving an ample time to review your account.

Ivan: If you want, I can provide the link on where you can contact our Enforcement team for further information.

Ivan: They do have a specialized department, it is on the forums.

Eric: Yeah, that would be helpful

Changing back to an old Gamertag?

If someone else hasn't already taken the gamertag then you can change back to it at a cost of 800 points.

I changed my Gamertag a few months ago, and I would like to change back to my old Gamertag, is this possible? Many thanks!

 

Sorry, but support gave you some incorrect information. There is no way to contact the enforcement team about this issue. As long as the gamertag is on the server, there is no way to use it. You would have to have access to that account and change the name
to something else in order to free it up for use. There is no way to request a specific gamertag.

You can try contacting support again. If you can verify that you are the owner of the account they should be able to get you to email address attached to the account and you can reset the password (if you don't remember it). You can then change the tag to
something else so you can change the tag on this account back to it. It would cost $10 for each change.
