    Changing Gamertag and Reverting Back


    I have an original Xbox gamertag (with no #1234 suffix) prior to the new format that Microsoft implemented last year. If I change my gamertag and then one day decide to revert back to my original, will I then be given a suffix?

    If someone takes your gamertag before you change it back or you try to change it before the server notices it's freed up, then you would get a suffix.

    Unfortunately you cannot revert to an old gamertag without purchasing ... once you change your gamertag it becomes available to any and everyone in the xbox community.
