changing gamer tag that I was assigned

When you go to the website do you see the enter your new gamertag box?

You get one free gamertag change but it has to happen within the first 30 days or so of the account being active. It's not an "anytime" thing.

The 30 day time limit was scrapped a couple of years ago.

Unless they've added it back then there is no time limit anymore.

Hello. Ok. I keep trying to change it. The money thing doesn't come up anymore. The gamertag I have chosen is available and I click Yes, I want this gamer tag. Then the page freezes and I try to click refresh and its frozen then it comes up with this error
message:

HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.

And even when I clicked your link above it says Bad REquest and same error message.

I'm trying to do this on my Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 (online) vs on the xbox. On the xbox Console I've got to the point where I can change my gamer tag but I can't figure out how to back out my current gamer tag and start "typing" in what I want
for my new gamer tag and I'm afraid it will just select something new for me and then, that's it, I've used my one time free gamertag change.

I can't even sign in on xbox live. The link isn't clickable. Xbox is hard.
