Changing from xbox360 to xbox one

I'm looking to change over to the xbox one form the xbox360.

I gather that none of the games are directly compatible between consoles, is that right?

What about the online stuff? Most of my friends are still on the xbox360, if a game is available for both 360 and one, can I play against them with the one while they are all on 360? Or will it be a case of only playing single player and strangers until
others also move over to the one?

It's going to be a bit awkward and expensive if I need to buy a game for the one and 360 if I'm first to get the one. It would be ideal is a game license support the 360 and one, but I don't think that is the case.

How have other managed this transition with friends still on the 360 and not had to buy two copies of every game?

Aside from changing the router/gateway, what steps have you done so far?

 

Multiplayer

I recently bought COD3 on both Xbox one n xbox360. Can I play multiplayer with my son from my Xbox one console to his xbox360 console?

 

The games don't work cross-platform. So if you have it on the One and your friend has it on the 360, you would not be able to play together.

 

That's annoying, not everyone is going to change over at the same time. There's no reason for the Live co-op games not to work, the data coming out the network port shouldn't be platform specific.

So, the only way to play a new game is by myself on the one, and then buy another copy to play with friends? That's a bit crappy.

 

so i sold my 360 to buy Xb1, but now i cant remove my 360 profile from xbox live?

as it still picks me up as having a 360.. so i cant buy online games or apps?

any solutions>

 

@Kuldersak Are you still signing onto your xbox360? as well as singing on to your X1?

 

You only have one (1) profile which you can use on both of the consoles. So on xbox.com you can choose in the menus and the store wether you wan to buy a game for the 360 OR the One. If purchasing directly on the marketplace while logged in on the One it
will always be the correct version for the One. As soon as you logged in on your new One for the first time, the main screens on the xbox website wil reflect your change to the One.

There is no need of having your 360 profile deleted. Or better said, you cannot delete it , it will be carried over to the One. If you delete it, you have to delete your gamertag and your account, but I think thats not your goal.
