Changing email linked to account

i have been trying to change me email that is linked to my account because it is an old email i can remember the password and email for it but when i try to change it to my new email which i use all i get is an error and when i look up the error it say that
there isn't an error with that code 8016FE6. is there any reason to why it will not let me change my email?

we are switching internet companies and will not have the emails that we used to setup the accounts on xbox a long time ago. we will be getting new emails and want to use them for our accounts in the future. how do you go about changing it so that you are
able to use the new emails to sign in to the gamertag and xbox live. i saw where you can change the billing info email but have read it is different than the gamertag email. please help

Sorry to see that your unable to switch the Microsoft Account with your Xbox Live Profile. Please ensure that your profile has been downloaded onto the Xbox 360 that you want to switch it for at least 30-days. After that, if you recently just created the
Microsoft please give the account 24-48 hours to initialize. Please clear your system cache 3-times to ensure any un-needed file are removed(settings, system, storage, hover over the Hard-Drive and click (Y). After that, test your Xbox Live connection to

i have tried everything on that link and my profile has been on for over a year and my email is over 2 years old and it still hasn't worked. I have looked on support as i thought it could of been because i have a Gmail account but that doesn't make a difference
so im not sure why

I seen that you stated with you are using a Gmail Account. At this moment the when switching accounts over the Xbox only will read Microsoft Accounts(Live Accounts) in that setup. Please try making a Live Account at:
Outlook.com - Microsoft free personal email and sign up as a new user.

Hi, UprootedPilot47.

Please make sure that the email address you want to transfer the Gamertag to is not yet linked to any Gamertag.

Here are a few things that I got from Xbox support.

The new Microsoft account cannot have been associated with any other gamertag or billing account in the last 30 days.

You cannot change the Microsoft account that is associated with a profile if the profile has been recovered to a new device in the last 30 days.

Only one Microsoft account change is allowed in a 30-day period (one change per gamertag). If you recently changed your Microsoft account, you won't be able to change the Microsoft account again until 30 days have passed.
