Changing email associated with gamertag

Little background first. I have a xbox 360 and the gamertag is associated with a hotmail email. Now i dont play my 360 anymore, i play on PC now. Which my microsoft account for my windows 10 is associated with a gmail email. When i use the xbox app on windows
10 to play killer instinct, gears of war or shadow complex i have it log into my hotmail account to use my gamertag. Well i wanted to move my gamertag from my hotmail to my gmail. Which you can do. But while trying to figure out how to do that on the pc, since
there was no xbox gamertag associated with my gmail account, it auto created one for me. Which means i need to transfer the gamertag associated with the gmail to another email. But you need to wait 30 days when its new.

So here we are 60 days later and i attempt to move it again. I made another email address to dump this gamertag they assigned to my gmail account. I goto move it and it wont because there is existing funds on the account. There is no funds on gamertag, i
havent made any purchases via my xbox with that gamertag. So i contacted tech support via chat. He confirms that there is no funds on the account. So he has me going into my email and adding an alias email then making it primary and deleting the one that
was the main. This was on the email that i made to dump that gamertag they assigned to me. Then he wants me to do that on my main gmail, but in doing so the games that i purchased through the windows store for the pc, will no longer me associated with my gmail,
along with my windows pc.

I dont know if there is anything i can do now. I just dont get why the windows store games are now linked to that gamertag.

Can you sign in Xbox live with a different E-mail account?

yeah just create a new email address, go to xbox.com and change the email associated with your gamertag. heres the lnk for you.

Good news everybody! I finally managed to change the e-mail associated with my gamertag! I will describe how it was done.

My problem:

I had one original gamertag that was used on my xbox and had achievements and purchases assigned to it. The e-mail address however was old and not in use. Then, due to Windows 8 and a random sign in to xbox.com, I had a 2nd gamertag, this one had nothing
assigned to it, BUT it was assigned to my preferred, primary, e-mail account. Googling this issue led me nowhere, solutions I saw was "make a 3rd e-mail account, move gamertag to that, them move to the first etc."

Solution:

This solution is based on changing whats regarded as the primary alias to your Microsoft ID. Your MS ID is also whats used for xbox.com and the xbox.

1. Log into https://account.live.com/. Look at overview. Here, add a primary alias. Create a new at @outlook.com address. Note that this will be the login for this account in the future!

2. After you have added the alias, make that alias primary.

3. Then, remove the old e-mail you want freed. The e-mail address you want to use on the other Microsoft ID.

Then, we move on to the MS ID you want to use. In my case, this MS ID was associated to an old expired e-mail account.

1. Log into https://account.live.com/. Look at overview. Here, add a primary alias. Use the e-mail you freed on the other account.

2. After you have added the alias, make that alias primary.

3. Remove the expired old e-mail address.

 

Hi Defiancey!

Unfortunately, there's no way to merge games from one Gamertag to another. While you may be able to change which email address is associated with your account, purchases made with one Gamertag will always be attached to that account.

If you changed your main Gamertag to your current gmail address, you should be able to sign with that. We apologize for any confusion and thanks for your understanding!
