  1. Changing email addresses on a profile .

Last summer I successfully recovered an old profile that has an email address that's no longer in service . After moving to another city I've been trying to change that email address to my new one & I can't access the old address to verify it . I've been
going around in circles , getting status code 80154013 on the console & unable to verify the old email address at accounts.live.com . This is confusing for me & after having such a hard time recovering that old profile the last thing I want to do is lose
it again with all those achievement points . It seems I need to create a new account . I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like , a copy the account I already have or something new ?

    :)

Ran into an issue with backwards compatible games. (Please Help.)

It gives you an option to download new profile (Gamertag). It will have you enter your email address and password, and everything should be there. I changed my Gamertag last week and everything worked perfectly fine.

Go to verifyme.microsoft.com. If you are able to sign in to the profile successfully (i.e. you have the correct email address and password), sign in to that website and it will tell you to verify the email address to continue. Right below that, it will
also give you the option of using a new email address to sign in to your profile. This is how you can change an email that you can't verify.

  5. If you have your account here on this website then go to account then click billing information there you should be able to change your email and what ever. But I could be wrong. If all else fails contact Xbox support

  7. Tried the verifyme link , didn't work . I have 2 profiles . # 1 has the expired email address , #2 has my new email address with an account all set up with security proofs & a strong password . I think I have to set up another account for # 1 to switch to
. ( seems to be some cross-over ) After I try this I'll get get back to you guys to let you know how it worked . Thanks guys !

  9. I've been using this profile since recovery ( has all my achievements )( still logs into Live ) . Here's the new twist , got a new email account , used console to switch gamertag from old account to new . Denied . Says go to xbox.com / account swap . Apparently
, during the last few days while trying to verify the expired email address I must have changed something in another account , so now I'm told I need to wait until 30 days is up before I can make another change . So I guess that's the deal . If the original
email on a profile is no longer working , create a new account not associated with any other profile & switch using your console . March 4 I'll try again .

Yeah, downloading the profile to the console is enough to trip the 30 waiting period. That's specifically so that someone who gets your password can't just download your profile to their own console and move it to their own waiting dummy email.

So instead of just getting a confirmation email or text, we have to wait 30 days? I wish I could hop on that logic train /:

When dealing with a possibly compromised account, Xbox wants to give the genuine account owner plenty of time to prevent damage to their information. Relying on a confirmation email or text can potentially speed up the process of an account thief locking
the owner out, as they would be able to merely change the information that Microsoft uses to verify ownership. By locking these things behind a 30-day timer, it ensures that if someone does grab your account, they can't dart away without giving you a chance
to call foul. But not wanting to inconvenience genuine account holders, the account remains available for use during those 30 days you're waiting to change the email. Just avoid making any changes, or downloading your profile, during that time, so the timer
    doesn't reset.

  13. Changing email addresses on a profile .

I know what you're saying Klokwork , but in my case the 30 day wait came from something I did before hand , when I attempted to verify my old account through newer accounts ( adding security proofs ) . Ironically , although I seemed to be successful in getting
the verification , when I tried to do the switch I kept getting the " account not verified " message .It's such a pain , the instructions aren't clear , & I just seemed to be running around in circles . ( Of course someone more computer literate than myself
probably would have done better . ) I think I've got it figured out , & now it seems straight forward , I just have to wait 30 days . I'm still playing on that profile , had it since day one , so I can wait . Thanks guys !

Glad to hear it's working out for you, Ace. Sorry to hear about the troubles along the way. Hope the transition to the new email goes much more smoothly once this 30-day period is up. Happy gaming, man.

  15. Thanks Dude , & to KAG 1858 , after adding some security proofs last Dec. for another account I did get an email from MS 30 days later confirming a successful operation , so sometimes things do work in MS network !
