Changing email address and payment problems.

Hello,

I'd like to change my email address on xbox live as my old email is no longer valid.

Also, my payment information isn't working even though its correct and redeeming codes isn't working....

Im having problems changing my email address associated with my xbox live profile.

i spoke to someone last week about deleting and changing aliases on the microsoft account linked to my xbox live account.

Are you allowed to use an email other than a hotmail or msn account like a gmail account. I no longer use my email that is associated with my GT and would like to use my gmail account

Remeeming errors can be caused by issues on the account itself.

Be sure to check if your billing information is correct at
http://billing.microsoft.com and also check
http://account.microsoft.com/services for any outstanding amount issues, these need to be sorted prior to being able to redeem codes.

After that try redeeming the code on both xbox console and via xbox.com/redeemcode Also check that the Xbox Live account , the console and code all match region wise, using different regions for any of them cause issues too.

If you can't find anything wrong and it is still not working, best thing to do is to contact official Xbox Support via Phone or Microsoft Support Chat at
Contact Us | Xbox Support they can do a more indepth look into this issue.

 

To change your email address you use to sign in, go to
https://account.live.com/names/Manage and add the desired email as an alias. Then make that new email your primary sign in alias.

As for the payment issue: Go to
https://commerce.microsoft.com and check if there are outstanding payments or other problems with your payment method.

If there are issues with your payment method, you can't redeem prepaid codes as well.
