Changing E-Mail Adresses

Hi,

Like a lot of Xbox users, my gamertag was set up using my mothers e-mail address. I now want to change this to my gmail account.

I've done the steps shown on the Support site, but when it go to remove my mothers e-mail address it says

"Warning: Before removing the address, be completely certain that you don't use it anywhere else. Do you use this address as the contact mail for Facebook, financial institutions, or other accounts? If so, go to those accounts and
change your email address to one you still use. If you remove this alias, you won't be able to use it to send or receive email through Outlook.com, but your existing mail will remain in your inbox."

Is there a way I can add my e-mail address without deleting hers?

Just to make sure we're on the same page, are you trying to:

Change the Microsoft account associated with your Gamertag using
these steps?

• If so, what step in that are you on when you get that error?
• Have you recently downloaded your profile?
• Is the new e-mail a Microsoft Account?

• • If you're using a gmail or yahoo, etc. e-mail you'll need to make sure it's
    
    set up as a Microsoft Account.

Please let us know and we'll work from there.

 

Error changing e-mail adress

I've ben trying for 2 weeks to change my email adress of my gamertag, but it gives an error "Sorry, we can't change your Microsoft account right now.". I never change my email since the beginning. (I know about the 30 day rule)

Any ideas?

I believe you don't need to remove her email from the account as long as you add yours as an alias and add it as primary as stated on the support page.

 

If your mom's email is not a microsoft email domain if you switch the alais it will only change the email on the msa and the original email will still be active through gmail,yahoo,etc. If the email is a hotmail,live,msn,or outlook then I recommend hopping
on a Xbox 360 and doing a msa swap.
