Changing channels?

Sorry im a noob.

I can watch tv on my xbox fine, connected to my dish cable box. I can view the one guide, but i can't change channels unless i use my dish remote. One Guide is basically useless.

I also cannot use my smartglass to change channels, the entire tv portion is useless.

Do i need kinect to render all of those features? I don't have it. I also have xbox live, a 14 day trial at least.

Changing output to 720p

Thanks for the input. Why didn't/don't Respawn just set the it to 720p instead of 792p? Surely when upscaled to 1800p there is no difference?

might need to enter in your TV model and cable box model manually. My xbox said it picked up exactly what model each were (but it was wrong). Once i entered them in manually through the settings it all worked fine.

Now doesn't that make channel browsing fun ? That's if everybody in the room hadn't thrown a brick at you and told you to shut the f up and just use the remote control instead.

Sounds like something is going wrong with the Xbox remote control of your cable/satellite set top box. The Xbox controls it by sending IR commands from your Kinect sensor... so some things to try would include:

Make sure your Kinect is plugged in and not blocked from your set top box. They don't need to be aimed directly at each other - light can bounce around the room, just like with your remote control - but if one is blocked off the infrared commands might
not be getting through.

Check your set top box configuration in Live TV settings. If you used automatic detection, try entering the exact make and model of your cable box manually. (If this works to fix your problem, please post your model number so we can improve automatic detection
for others in the future.)
