Changing birth date on child's account, verifying child's account

Hi,

How (as an adult with 3 children's accounts attached to mine) do I change the date of birth on those accounts. When I log in with the child's account, the date of birth cannot be changed. When I went through the Microsoft help files it tells to makes the
changes by signing in under the adults account, this still gives me no options to change it? I only want to change my younger sons birth date as it's got the wrong month.

Also why all of a sudden are my children receiving messages when logging into xbox saying they need an adult to verify account?? My children's accounts have been created years ago with no issues. I do not what to pay £0.50 per account to verify. The fact
that they are linked to my account and payments are made through my account via credit card should be enough. This only affects 2 of my 3 children's accounts though. Why not the third?

Child trying to join Xbox Live with existing profile

You would have to associate an email address with your child's date of birth, it would automatically become a child's account on your console, and as the adult account on your console, you can go to system settings and apply parental controls for child accounts.

 

Parental consent

The birth date entered when first creating the child's account is permanent. You cannot change the account from a child to an adult until that account has "turned 18".

 

Seems strange that you are not able to change only the date of birth under the account (mind you that can't change a child account into an adult account, if that is your intention)

If you have followed these steps correctly:

1. Using the parent's Microsoft account, sign in to your
   Family page on the Microsoft account website.
2. Select Manage my child's profile info.
3. For the child’s account that you want to change, select Edit this child's personal info and then follow the instructions.

While I don't know why your accounts need to be verified all of a sudden, you should know that you do NOT pay £0.50 per account, but you pay £0.50 ONCE to verify YOUR account to be an adult account, and that it's not a kid that stole your
credit card to verify an adult account the kid created to be able to change their child accounts without your parental knowledge, as you would recognize a £0.50 charge on your credit card bill, that you haven't authorized.

After your account was verified to be an adult with your consent, you don't need to verify each and every child account you add. So the £0.50 are a one time payment, and these £0.50 do NOT go into the "Make Microsoft Richer"
funds, but are added as credit to your account, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the reply.

When I sign in to my account I am met with a main menu showing "Payment & billing", "Devices", "Subscriptions" and "Family". Under family it shows my three children's accounts. Under the last child is a link "View your family". When clicked this takes me
to another window showing all three children's accounts where I can see there devices how much money on their account and change things like screen time and content restrictions. There is nothing that says "edit profile". There is a link at the bottom of the
screen that says "Manage my child's profile info". Clinking on it brings up the following screen: -





There are no settings on this screen to manage. If I click on the link "view your family settings" this takes me back to the previous screen.

There is no link to "Edit this child's personal info". I live in the UK and have a UK Microsoft account.

Hello EARUSHTON,

As stated you can change the date of birth on
account.microsoft.com, but unfortunately you are unable to change it on Xbox.com. Once a child account is made and has a Gamertag tied to it that account is a child until the birthdate put turns the age of 18. Have you tried to verify that you are the
parent, and then see if setting show up?

This is the message that my 2 younger children are getting when they sign into the xbox : -





I myself and my eldest child are not receiving such message.

The next message (If i myself sign in) says that the money will go to charity not my account. It doesn't specify what charity or where, US or UK. The fact that both my two children are getting this message indicates that it will take £0.50 per account verification.
I've had my Microsoft account for 20 years, and I've always used it to purchase content for my self or the kids via their own accounts.

It just seems strange in that why are Microsoft not contacting me directly with regards to my children's accounts via email. It can clearly see all purchase are made via my account details.

Another option would be to fill out the
Age
verification form.
You can
submit proof of age by filling out the
Age verification Request. After submitting this form, you’ll receive
confirmation and follow-up emails. Instructions on how you can monitor the status of your request will be included. Please do not submit multiple requests. You can expect an email response within
3 days.

Otherwise, when trying to change the age on Microsoft.com it will not change the age on the Xbox account. It will actually cause issues due to the conflicting ages.

I believe once the child asks for the permission it normally will send out a notification to the adult. On the other hand, children will inform their parents of the message they
receive. We are still making updates to the settings to best fit everyone's needs.
