Changing Alias broke my xbox one

The other day I changed the email account associated with my Microsoft account via the Microsoft website. Now when I try to sign in to my account on xbox one, it keeps trying to sign me in with my old email account, which does not exist anymore. There is
no way for me to change the account associated with my gamertag on my xbox one. So now I own a $500 doorstop.

Changing my Alias

I want to add an alias to my account but I cannot because I have a this warning: "For security reasons, you need to verify your primary alias before you can add another alias." How can I add an alias if I cannot verify my primary address? I no longer have
access to my primary email address as it no longer exists.

You can add another alias at
https://account.live.com/p and then remove the first one.

If you're talking about changing the primary (the one used to log in), you will need to follow these steps:

support.xbox.com/.../switch-gamertag-to-different-microsoft-account

Is the profile you are using to post on these forums the same as the one you want to use on your xbox?

If so then delete your account off your xbox then redownload it using your new email address.

This same thing has just happened to me! I changed my alias, I then tried to log into my Xbox one account and it's asking me for a password for my old alias. Even though I know the password, xbox one is not accepting it..wth? I can log into my account online
with my new alias (this one) just fine.

This is beyond crazy! Some help would be most appreciated!

it also keeps asking for my password when i sign into the xbox one is this related to the primary alias change.

I think I found a solution...

I changed my primary Microsoft Account alias to another address and changed it back to the original one after that.

Then I tried to download my account on my Xbox 360 and then it worked.

Im not 100% sure if the primary alias changing fixed my problem, but may you can give it a try when you have the same problem.
