Changing account age/adding restrictions to "adult" account

My son is 9, but his account was set up as an adult's (18+). Unfortunately, he's been accessing games that are inappropriate, so I'm trying to find a way to set parental controls.

I've tried adding a passkey to manage content permissions, but it only took him two days to discover a workaround. (Enter the wrong passkey three times, and they offer to let him change it by entering his LIVE password, which he has.)

I've tried to add him as a child account, but because his account was set up as an adult's, none of the permissions I set carry over.

I asked live support about this several months ago, and their advice was to delete his account to create a new one with the proper age (and just buy all of his games again). This option isn't terribly compelling. Is there anything else that can be done?
Is it possible, for example, to get Microsoft to edit his account age?

When you created your account, did you include your correct date of birth? The account's "age" is determined by that information. If your real age is 18 or over, your account becomes an adult account with no restrictions by default. After the account is
created and used on an Xbox console, that locks the account's age for use on Xbox consoles, and it will have to "age" naturally; for example, if you set the "age" as 1 November 2018, it won't be an adult until 1 November 2036, when the user reaches 18.

Sure, but I'm not trying to change an age--the date of birth on the account is 1994 and has always been. I need to change the content restrictions of an adult account. Thanks!

 

Sorry but once the age is set on an account it can't be changed.Have you tried the tips here

I've tried the 'official' suggestions, as noted above, and they're useless.

And I'm sure the age can be changed - the only question is whether anyone on Microsoft's support team is willing to.

But in lieu of that, are there any ways around it? Apparently Gold Family Packs used to force all associated accounts as child accounts, but those aren't offered anymore.

 

Sorry but as i said,the age on an account cannot be changed,not by support or anyone else.

If the solutions in the link i posted are no good then you will need to start a new account with the correct age on it.

I'm not sure why one of those solutions won't work though.

 

As stated in the OP, the problem relates to content, not play duration. The content settings I enter under family settings do not apply to his account because he is perceived to be an adult, and there seems to be no way to override this treatment.

Passkeys are ineffective because Microsoft allows him to overwrite whatever passkey I set by entering his password.
