Changing a friend to family

For some reason, my son's account was put on to my xBox One as a friend and not as family, and I am trying to add him on as family. I am following the steps on the website, going through settings and into family settings. I am clicking on "add member" and putting in his email address and password, but then we get a message saying that he "is here already".

How can I change his status from friend to family? I don't want to have to set up a new account as he has everything saved on his old account.

You can change the family settings on the console, But I there is no way to Add a cc to the member on the family plan, only the primary can have the CC information.

Same here... I got ARK to play with my friend since he has a xbox one. I tried to change the settings by creating a family with my friends account because I the Xbox Settings page wouldn't even open when I wasn't in a family. It just redirected me to the
page where it tells me how to change my accounts privay setting. Please fix this soon Microsoft.

If I am Understanding the situation correctly, You are unable to play with friends do to family settings.

If that is the case then it is no one outside of the console's fault, and complaining to everyone isnt going to do you or your friends anygood.

You will have to talk to your parent or guardians about changing the family settings, they may have it blocked to play multiplayer games, so ask them to lower it.

If you cant play with friends because of their family settings then have them ask their family to lower the settings.

Otherwise im sorry to say your problem will continue to exist until your family lifts the setting or you get your own system

This can happen if you lend your account to a friend or family member. You shouldn't have to worry if you've already changed your password though.
