Changing a family member from child to adult.

I am having problems with my sons account connecting to some (not all) online games, the latest is Star Wars Beta. Its not clear but I suspect EA think his account is a child account ie under 13 but I am still waiting for EA to confirm the error but reading
through forums, this is a common issue. I have checked both EA and MS Live and they both have him as 18+ on the account settings as his age but looking through Xbox forums, there maybe another age setting, separate to MS Live but I am unable to find it. Problem
is, I set up his account ages ago, and cant remember what I set for it (if at all).

Currently he is a "Child" account on my family settings so that I can manage his account and he has his own Xbox LIve membership.

    Thanks

    SZM

    :)

Prevent Child from Leaving the Family

    Hey FortniteMom,

Child accounts are not allowed to remove themselves from the Family without having an adult account remove it for them.

Once the child account graduates to 18 years of age from the birthdate used when the account was created, then that account is no longer a child account but could still be a part of a Family and at that point the account could be removed by itself.

Remove a Family Member on Xbox One

    Overview

The primary purpose of creating a family is to make it easier to manage parental controls and online safety for children. You can manage who is in your family from your Xbox One console, or from any Windows 10 device.

    • Any adult in the family can remove another family member.
Children and teens are prohibited from making this change.
    • When a child is removed from the family, they will be unable to use the Xbox service until they have been added to another family. See

Add a new member to your family.
    • Adults removed from the family no longer have the ability to manage the child accounts in the family. However, they'll have full rights to their account and will be able to use home console sharing when signed in to the home console.

By any chance is the adult account in charge of the child account on the same Xbox the child uses? Adult accounts can remove child accounts under the Family straight from the Xbox if they are able to sign into the adult account.

  3. xbox live child account deleted by mistake

If you promote a child account to adult, it will remove that account from a family pack. After five days, you should be able to re-add that member to the family pack.

Changing a family member from child to adult.

Betas require you to be of 18 of age.

No noone can actually check the age of the account as that can be changed via your windows live id

However changing the age of the windows live id doesnt affect the ms account

That is set in stone till he reaches the age of majority

There is no way to promotr an account until it reaches 18

  5. There should be an option to change it. It is very frustrating since kids of all ages are playing games that they probably shouldnt be but how do you tell them no when everyone else is? When I set up my sons account I didn't know his date of birth would
inhibit his ability to play certain things. Its too late to create another account since all his stuff is saved on the current. He uses mine but it doesn't contain his stuff or friends. This is definately something that should be revisited and thought about.
If we have parental control then we should be able to allow whatever content we want. It shouldn't be up to someone else to judge our parenting skills and what we allow our children to do.

    You dont understandthe issuem

Its not parental permissjon that is the issue

International laws dont allow parents to change the age of their child nor do they allow their kids to see m rated demos or trailers as they are ads therefore controled by international laws

Thanks for the prompt replies but there seems to be separate issues here. My son is 18, problem is, I can't remember what age I set during his account creation, assuming that Xbox has a different age from MS Live and EA. I need to find out what it is and
correct it, assuming that this is wrong.

If Xbox what to act as police and ensure that the law is observed, then I need to be able to correct issues like this. As far as UK law, it states that retailers can be fined for selling/distributing games to people under the PEGI age classification (as
of 2012) but should a parent provide a game to a minor isn't (parental responsibility). Now I appreciate that online games are a little different and the game manufacturer has the right to enforce their own rules for online play but if their judgement is based
on flawed information then there needs to a way to correct this.

Rant over, but these things do frustrate me.

    Wrong laa thats retail games

Betas arent even coverrd by that law

A beta is an advertisement therefore an minor regardless of a parents permission may not view m rated ada

Once set it takes the age of majority not the parent to change the age of an account

This is why it is set in stone

Game retailera also have that rule and cannot be changed even on their end

No system by laa can change the age of an accoumt

Sony nintendo or xbox or ea or activision

Ea policy requires am acount over 18 and with any ea account either sony or xbox that age cannot be changed until thw accoujt itself changes
