Changing a Child's email address in a family group.

Hi Brad, thanks for the reply. child has an existing email address on family group with an associated gamertag. He has a new email address, and i need to add it to the family group and change the gamertag over to it. the new address is not attached to anything
at the moment - brand new.

any ideas how i get it onto the family group with the gamer info?

Thanks for coming to the forums. You can
change the primary alias/email that is all. If the email you want to change it to already has a gamer tag attached then it will not be possible.

Hello Wil,

There is no way to move the gamer tag/info over from one account to another. You would need to replace the unwanted email with the new email. This only works, as mentioned above, if that email not currently attached to another Microsoft account.

Simply log into the account with the unwanted Email and follow the steps linked above in Brad's post.

Thank you is it possible to change the email address associated with the account? For example- the account is with my email address. Could i change it to my childs email address? Then create another account with my email address and add his account
to the family?

To remove your kids from the old family account, you will need to sign into the old account and remove them from the family group. Since you have mentioned that the organizer Microsoft account has an old, deactivated email address, you may still be able to access the Microsoft account. just by entering the same password and the email address of the account.

Here are the steps to do so:

1. Sign into the old account at account.microsoft.com/family.

2. Select the child you want to remove from the family group.

3. Select "Remove from family group" and confirm the action.



Once you have removed your kids from the old family account, you can then send them an invite to join your new family group. Here are the steps to do so:



1. Sign into your new account at account.microsoft.com/family.

2. Select "Add a family member."

3. Enter your child's email address and select "Send invite."

4. Your child will receive an email invitation to join your family group. They will need to accept the invitation to join.
