Official 250 GB Hard Drive for 360 S only showing 14 GB

Did you just buy it? And if so did you buy it used/from a 3rd party?

That's usually how much space a 20gb hard drive would show. Which would either mean someone swapped the actual hard drive for a 20gb and put it in a 250gb casing, or they tried using an unofficial data transfer cable which would sometimes reformat them to
    only see 20gb.

New HDD for Xbox not recognized, please help!

Have a 250gb hard drive that isn't detected. Bought a transfer cable to switch data from 20gb one to new HDD, but it only recognizes it as the max 32gb storage device.

Changing hard drives would not affect your account. What's happening when you try to use your account?

  5. Yes i agree. Changing hard drives would only get rid of local profiles and not Xbox live accounts. You would need to be careful as a memory increase that large can cause your Xbox to overheat.

  6. Changing HDDs will not cause your console to overheat. You need to re-download your profile off the LIVE servers is all.

    Hard drive data transfer

MikeBj, I have used my transfer cable that came with my 120Gb hard drive to transfer from a 20Gb to a 120Gb and then from the 120GB to the 250GB in my present S model console with no issues whatsoever.
