    Changed gamertag at setup but keeps jumping between old and new one


    HI, When I set up my daughters account I changed her gamertag from the one she was given to the one we prefered. It said that it had been changed but everytime I log into the account it sometimes shows the old name and sometimes the new name. When I send
    messages it reverts back to the old name. Confussion????

    Need support - Gamertag issue

    Hi all,

    Yesterday, I changed my Gamertag for free since it was my first time doing so. (old one: UpscaleHealer77 and new one: )

    The new one is correctly showing on Xbox One but not on the Xbox website (while checking my profile, the gamertag switches back and forth between the old one and the new one).

    What shall I do ? Is there a technical issue with the servers or shall I just wait for a synchronization ?

    sorry to hear you're having issues. when you make a tag change it can take some time for it fully take effect. please be patiet and it should all sort itself out within the next few days.

    Keep in mind, by just creating a new account and changing gamertags, you will not have anything else from the old account. Nothing can be transferred between accounts, so any way you do it, one of you would have to start all over.

    Do I have to pay another 10$ to change the Xbox gamer tag

    If you have 2 names, then you have 2 gamertags, not a display name. One is a classic gamertag and one is the tag that follows the newer gamertag policy. That'll typically happen if you change your tag to something that is not available with the old system so it keeps both in order to use the old tag in areas that don't work with the new system.

    DLC are tied to the account that downloaded them and can not be transfered between accounts. You should have just changed the gamertag on the old account instead of creating a new one. This way everything would have stayed the same except the name.

    Hi, the situation is normal and if you have succesfully changed your gamertag the old one will disappear in few days/weeks.

    They keep the old gamertag for a period in order to keep you recognizable by your friends.
