    Changed Gamertag and Backwards Compatibility


    I recently changed my Gamertag (3 months ago) and i'm trying to play Halo 3 and it doesnt recognize my account. I have tried to Download Profile, but when I enter the password it has a maximum capacity of characters (16) and my password is 17 characters.
    Therefore, I can't Download my Profile. Has anyone had this problem or could help me?

    [Fix] How to fix not being able to log into backwards compatible games AFTER a gamertag change.

    In order to play backwards compatible titles after a gamertag change, all you would need to do is re-download your profile from the Xbox 360 Menu on a backwards compatible title. That should fix it.

    Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to deal with this. I can totally understand how this could bring your gaming experience to a standstill. I suggest changing your password to something that has the appropriate amount of characters and
    redownloading it from Xbox Live.

    Help. Gamertag change

    Did you go through the process of changing your gamertag? If so then the change is reflected across the whole system but may take a little time to show up on your account. Try deleting your gamertag then redownload it to see if it shows up for you.

    Also, please remember that if you are on the Xbox One you will need to delete then redownload your gamertag from the backwards compatible menu in order to play backwards compatible games. You can follow the instructions in this video to do that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl551gGi7Pk

    Have you changed your gamertag recently?

    Does it happen with any other backwards compatible games?

    What exactly is happening when you try and load the game up does it just go to that error immediately?
