Changed email associated with account, but my console is still using the old one

I changed the email address associated with my Microsoft account today and at some point, my Xbox One decided to log me out. Now I can't log back in on my console because it asks me for the password associated with the email address I removed from my account.
I tried putting in the new password and the old password multiple times, but it tells me it's wrong every time. I can log into Windows Live and xbox.com perfectly fine, just not on my console. How long will it take to update/does something more need to be
done?

Xbox Live Association with Windows Live Account

I've changed the email my Gamertag is associated with and set up a new Live Account with that email but my Xbox signs into the old one with Messenger and all of the old contacts. How do I fix this?

As an update, I re-added the old email and was able to sign in using my new password, but now I can't re-change my alias to the new email address. Will my Xbox Live account ever recognize a change in the primary email associated with the account?

i dont know how you tried to do it, maybe you changed contact or security Details instead.

- sign in to https://account.live.com

- select aliases

- most likely you will be asked to enter a verification code, choose whichever way you want to recieve it

- add your new email as alias, validate it and set it as Primary alias

- if you want you can remove the other email

You need to add your account again to your One as that's the only way to configure a new primary email address to the one. After creating the account with the new credentials you can delete the old one from your console.

As all your savegames are stored in the cloud together with your profile they will not be lost but resynchronized when starting each game.

You would have to
change the email address associated with the old account to free it up to be able to use on the new account.

Do you remember the password for the Hotmail account?

if so it is still a good email it would be the same password that you would use say if you were trying to sign into the account on your xbox console.

to check the Hotmail email you would go to outlook.com and sign in with the Hotmail email and password associated with that account.

if you do not remember the password you can try and recover the Hotmail account at account.live.com/acsr

then you can sign into the account at account.live.com/addassocid and change the email address associated with that Microsoft account.

Now to answer your question NO you can not transfer purchases made on one account to another account.

but you can recover your old account and change the email used for signing into that account. by following the directions above
