Changed alias to a new email address

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is an issue with changing alias on a Microsoft Account.

When changing the alias on the account it has to be a new email or a 3rd party email. You will receive an error is you are trying to use an active Microsoft email, for example: hotmail.com, outlook.com.

I recommend reviewing the following article: Change the email address or phone number for your Microsoft account

• A new email address. Select Create a new email address and add it as an alias, and then follow the instructions.

• A non-Microsoft email address (such as an @gmail.com or
  @yahoo.com email address). Select Add an existing email address as a Microsoft account alias, and then select Add alias.

I changed email addresses from the original one that I used when I set up my Microsoft account to a new email address. I believe that I did change the alias to the new email address. I made the new email address the primary alias and the old email address the secondary. I will be deleting the account associated with the old email address soon and it will no longer be supported after I do that.

Is the email address verified? If it is verified, sign in to account.live.com and click add or change alias. There you can add a new email, make it the primary alias and removed the hacked email address. If it is not verified, but you know the password,
sign in to verifyme.microsoft.com and when it says your email hasn't been verified it will give you an option to change the email address you sign in with.

Hello BeguilingRex019, usually in cases like these, after creating Alias you do not need to delete it, just swipe to secondary and choose the new account as primary login.

In the image below, if you click the Sign-in preferences option, you can choose the email you are signed in to.

* Are you sure about that? If you remove an alias that is an email address from a Microsoft domain (such as @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com), you are permanently deleting the alias and cannot be associated with any Microsoft account again.

* If you are removing a primary alias, you will need to choose another primary alias before it is removed.

+ If you remove an email address from a non-Microsoft domain (such as @gmail.com), then it is generally immediately available to be added as a pseudonym to another Microsoft account.

* If you want to remove a connected email account, see Remove a connected account from the Outlook.com.

The thing is I did add another email address to primary and deleted the older email from primary. Also I have another account with this email address but still cannot login.
